Took the baguette making class with Mort a few days ago. He opened the bakery a year ago and teaches classes upon request on Sundays afternoon from 1 pm to 5pm. The cost is $45 per person, with a 10% discount for couples. It is a unique way to spend an afternoon to learn about bread making (regardless of the... More

I took a class, together with my 11 year old daughter and my father, from Morton last week. We did the baguette basics class and Morton's Bakehouse has new kitchen space that is perfect for classes! Morton, AKA the Rye Guy, is a knowledgeable instructor and we learned a lot about how to bake bread. At the end of the... More

Mort Rabkin, baking guru extraordinnaire, explains it all for you. With 35 years as an expert artisan baker there is nothing Mort is unprepared to teach you. Whatever your class topic or level of baking expertise you are sure to come away with truly useful knowledge and the best artisan bread you will have for a very long time. The... More

A friend signed us up for this class and I wasn't sure that's what I wanted to do on my vacation, but we ended up having a great time and going home with some first class baguettes. Mort is a charming host, an experienced baker and a great teacher. His kitchen is large and well equipped, and he was well... More

I can't say enough about the delicious freshly baked artisan breads that come out of this bakery. It's worth the journey from the U.S. for the bread alone.

My husband and I stayed in Mort and Barbara's Casita by the River, that could rightfully be called Sangri La. The beauty, comfort and the artisan bread made it so. Mort gave us the best rye bread I have had in years. He genuinely likes teaching, he is a natural and when you blend this with his passion for making... More

It's impossible not to fall in love with Mort Rabkin (and his lovely wife Barb). A warm welcome, a leisurely day of bread-making, and then, of course, the delicious bread itself. Mort brings a real sense of passion and fun to his baking that you can taste in every loaf. Boquete has so many wonderful gems, and this experience is... More

I took several of Mort's bread making classes and they were so much fun AND I got to leave with some DE-licious bread! I would recommend taking his class to anyone of any age. He is a funny and genuinely nice guy, who truly loves making bread and sharing his knowledge with others. If you find yourself in Boquette don't... More

I haven't tasted bread this good since I left New Jersey where my family owned bakeries. Mort Rabkin, The Rye Guy, aside from being a master baker is one heck of a teacher as well. If you're looking for a vacation in a tropical paradise and you want to come away with the knowledge and skill to make great artisan... More
