Boquete is the center of rock climbing and rappelling in Panama! With last volcanic eruption of Baru volcano 500 years ago, massive flows of lava covered great part of the region creating solid basalt rock walls all over the valley. Like a masterpiece of art, nature created incredible and unique geometrical columns of rock with vertical and horizontal curvatures. Now, almost 500 years after this volcanic event, a group of local climbers leaded by Canadian climber Gary Henning exposed the rock formations to the world and safety developed the first climbing routes. Then local climbers established the first organized Tour guide service calling it Panama Rock Climbing.A decade after and following the same tradition of good practices and quality of climb development, Panama Rock Climbing continues offering the same professional hi quality tours, guiding services and supporting the development of rock climbing. Now a day, travelers and mountaineers from all over the world visit Boquete and try Panama rock climbing's famous routes suitable for all levels and experiences. With contributions of Panamanian organizations, Boquete Municipality, and the support of local community, Boquete is now a day the Mecca of rock climbing in Panama with a considerable number of safe and elegant classic sport routes, multi pitch routes, amazing waterfalls descents, climbing projects and great athletes and guides.

Incredible experience. My husband, myself and our 8 year old son spent the morning climbing with Cesar. He was knowledgeable, patient and inspiring. He truly is a gifted teacher. He coached my son and I on where to grab when the holds weren't obvious to us. We were successfully able to make it to the top on many lines. We... More

If you have never tried outdoor rock climbing, do not miss the chance to climb with Cesar and his team! Besides climbing on one of the coolest rock formation I have ever seen, they are experienced and very friendly. Cesar is a professional, sponsored and well recognized rock climber in Panama (he is the first professional climber in Panama). It... More

If you go to Boquete with your climbing partner, that's the best ! The climbing paths are original and a nice challenge! The guides are great, sympathic and they adapt the path for your level, thought you need to be in great shape to get to the top.

Also Cesar was not available the time when I was there, the tours where guided by Ruben, a very good climber. I consider myself an experienced climber but still it was fun to explore the rocks of Boquete and the surroundings. A must do: the Gualaca Canyon!

Cesar is a great climber and a nice person. He is very patient and supportive while you climb. I did a lead climb that took me 45 minutes to finish, and Cesar didn't complain about belaying me for that long at all.

We booked Water Solo Bouldering with Cesar through Explora Ya for my birthday and it was a great experience. I was pretty useless but Cesar was encouraging and offered to show me other problems and advised me on how to progress with each one. It was a lot more challenging than indoor bouldering, that's for sure! The location is simply... More

I've done indoor rockclimbing maybe 3 times, and I always love the challenge but outdoor rockcliming always seemed so dangerous, but after seeing a pic of the ladrillos I just had to try it. Cesar and the 2 other guys were awesome guides, I did one of the hardest routes first, and it probably took me like 20 minutes, but... More

I was ill that day and just did not have the strength to do it. So annoyed! I am not a rock climber, but always fancied a go, but I love basalt and all the weird formations it can take. Having seen a picture of this site I was hooked. Even though I was physically unable to do the climbing... More
