This might be the best tour -- of anything -- that I've ever taken. And I don't even drink coffee. Carlos, the tour guide, is evidently a well-known Boquete character. (Not that difficult to be, perhaps -- it's a small place -- but still . . .) He is absolutely encyclopedic about coffee in general and Café Ruiz in particular.... More

Make sure to try and sample all of the different roasts and cafes. Geisha was the best. We had an amazing tour! It is definitely worth the experience. Staff were extremely knowledgeable.

We arrived at the mountain town of Boquete in Panama. There are many coffee plantations in Boquete. Today we took time and visited one of Panama's most famous family owned coffee companies: Cafe Ruiz. Our tour guide Carlos informed us about the art of growing, processing and tasting coffee. We saw the 92 year old owner of Cafe Ruiz sitting... More

Learn a lot about coffee production and processes. Great experience highly recommended. Not too many choices regarding the time of the tour.

I am a big coffee fan, and enjoyed touring this beautiful coffee plantation with an excellent, informative guide. I didn't understand how complex the process of growing, harvesting and processing coffee is until this tour. It gave me a much greater appreciation for the cups of coffee I drink each morning! The tour ended at a tasting room where we... More

We didn't go for the tour, but bought some of their Berlina coffee (local, picked and roasted and packaged on-site) and had a small pot of it to drink while we relaxed on their patio. Surrounded by beautiful hills and so relaxing. The coffee was some of the best I've ever had. The lady insisted that we try it without... More

This was one of my highlights in Boquete. We were picked up by Carlos and taken to the first farm, here we learnt about how coffee grows and is harvested. We also hEard many of Carlos' witting and interesting stories. We went to two other processing plants and got a real feel for making coffee. The whole process really made... More

We knew a lot about coffee trees and growing them, but this tour focused on coffee processing. The young woman did a great job in English and was happy to answer questions also. Besides having marvelous coffee and pecan pie at the end, we, also, had the delight of Senior Ruiz joining us for awhile. We only hope at 95... More

The tour of the coffee farm and the process involved in growing, harvesting, and processing is fascinating. Well worth the time to go and learn. (I think I can still name all of the steps in order, thanks to Carlos) The Ruiz family obviously cares about their heritage and their coffee. Carlos was our guide and I cannot think of... More

Visiting coffee plantation in Boquete is like you have to see Panama canal when you are in Panama City. Carlos has great sense of humor and lots of information about coffee and local economy which make this three-hour tour is superb. You have to take this coffee tour when you are in Boquete !
