There are very few places in the world where you can see turtles lay their eggs and then hatch throughout the year and Ras Al Jinz is one of them. There is usually a definite season for both and yet even out of season at least 2-3 turtles will make their way up the beach each night. This is a... More

I visited Ras Al Jinz yesterday morning at 4.00 am with my family, It was such a wonderful experience to see the Green turtles laying there eggs and going back to sea, My young daughter who is 5 years old was so fascinated to see the turtle laying eggs, It was nature at its best.

For green turtle viewing, this was an extraordinary experience. While July and August are the peak months, we saw green turtles emerging from the surf, laying eggs and returning to the water on June 6 -- not just one or two but multiple. Fox tracks across the beach in the morning and crabs scurrying back and forth at water's edge... More

I was really looking forward to see the natural wonder of turtles coming out of the sea to lay eggs and tiny turtles hatching in an environment that seemed to respect nature. But how was I surprised. When we reserved our spot for the night tour, we were a bit afraid that we would not get in any more, as... More

I visited the turtle sanctuary for the first time in 2003 when it was merely a simple but cosy camping ground. In April, I returned with my kids to watch the turtles and stay now at the new accommodations offered by the sanctuary. The place is quite different as it lost its basic feeling, but is now more civilised and... More

We only visited the reserve for the turtle viewings and camped out in our tent just outside of fenced area. The overall experience can be marked as absolutely awful and by far the most (and in fact the only) negative experience about our 1 week road trip through Oman. First of all they made us wait (and the other 100... More

This was the second time in 6 months we have been to see the turtles at ras al jinz. This time we stayed in an ecotent which was fantastic. Breakfast is basic but good. A welcome addition this time was a bus to take you to the beach head which meant even my elderly parents could get down to see... More

We have been a couple times since we live in the area and bring guests; we have always seen plenty of turtles nesting and that is very nice to see. However, there is always plenty of instruction from the guides what not to do, and then the guides do exactly what they say not to do...the museum is good value... More

We went in February which is not peak season for turtles but we were assured that there was at least one every night. There was a long wait during which the guide told us just about everything possible to know about turtles! There was a lot of toing and froing of guides as they were trying to spot a turtle.... More
