It's by far the best place to visit in Oman, but sadly it has been closed for a long time. I Understand that it will re-open under a new operator soon.

Road to cave is stunning but its still close. Must be helpful for visitors if tourism people put a notice on the boards directions.

The drive to Al hoota Caves from nizwa via tanuf was awesome. There were lot of huge canyons. unfortunately the caves were closed. The security told us that it was closed for some maintenance works. But hardly we could find any works were going on there.

One of the best places in Sultanate of Oman. Completely natural feeling with dim lighting inside, but need to be careful during visit due to space constraints and narrow walkways.

We were excited when we reached there in April 2014 only to find out that the place was closed. At the gate, it was written a number to contact. Tried to dial it without any success. Tried the reservation number, but no answer. No one knows when it would be re-opened. At least an announcement on its website would have... More

We passed by Al Hoota cave and found it to be closed, which we thought was because it was a Monday. On checking with our hotel, Golden Tulip in Nizwa, the concierge told us the cave has been closed for some time for safety reasons and there is no indication when it will reopen.

We spent considerable time finding the caves only to find (although at the open times indicated on the gate) them closed, with no explanation whatever. Several other cars arrived at the same time. An emergency can happen anywhere (if it were such a thing) but not even a handwritten note on the gate shows not respect for guests who have... More
