We found this wadi on our drive up to Jabal Sham and only stopped briefly, the drive to the wadi is beautiful and there are plenty of places to stop and admire.

The views are spectacular, it's hard to believe you are in the Middle East, the formations in Oman are some of the oldest Seabeds you will walk on. Yes' ocean floor millions of years ago. You will see sea fossils of shells in the granite. Rock that you are walking on. There are old village sites under the rock outcrops... More

One is just amazed by the beauty of the landscape. Definitely worth a visit - if you like a bizarre, stony but also beautiful scenery. I definitely liked it. I took a tour from .muscat and can unfortunately not give more details around payment.

I'm no geological expert but my guide assured me that Wadi Ghul attracts geologists from around the world. It is the deepest canyon in the middle east and you can clearly see layers in the rock from different time periods. It's a fossil hunters paradise. You need a 4WD to explore the Wadi as it steeply climbs up to Oman's... More

The grand canyon of Oman did not disappoint. The view was fantastic. After we left the grand canyon we decided to take another route that our ipad showed to get home. We thought it would be a flat road and out of the mountains. We were so wrong. The road took us into an off-roading adventure into the canyons of... More

We should have stayed and explored this region longer. Some great hiking and quite comfortable when much of Oman is getting too hot.

I spent the night in Nizwa and at 6AM drove north on Route 21, the Nizwa-Ibri road. It banks left (westward) and its about an hour to the turn off on the right to Al Hamra, just past a petrol station. Head north a few kilometers and go left at the rotary. The key is to follow the signs to... More

Watch your steps! don't look down much... the view is stunning! It's one of the best wonders in Oman! You need a 4-wheel car to drive up the moutain. There are some places where you can stop, walk and take pictures, but don't stand at the edge of the stones when it is blowing strongly. It could be risky! I've... More

A wonderful view. Best enjoyed with the about 4 h balcony walk which takes you breathtakingly near the sheer cliff, but at the same time is cleared well of so that it never feels really dangerous. Go early in the morning to avoid heat and other groups. And if you bring your own tent, you can camp out right next... More

Started our day with a ride along the dried-up river bed. How our driver picked a way through was amazing. Sadly a rock-fall had blocked the way so we could not go to the end of the wadi. We then climbed up to the highest point which my husband loved. I have a fear of heights so stayed in the... More
