At the entrance of the old medina, in a former almond warehouse, l'Atelier Madada welcomes you under its stone arches. By small groups (8 persons maximum) and supervised by a professional team (a cook and a trilingual presenter) our hosts discover the secrets of Moroccan gastronomy and are initiated into the delights of one of the best cuisine in the world. In a friendly and casual atmosphere, those half-day workshops teach each participant how to prepare a full traditional meal that one can then easily reproduce at home.

Trip to a spice merchant is part of the day - no buying involved - you can return another time if you like what you see!

Great way to get a bit of the culture - super friendly welcome and you can pick the menu if you get in first!

Lots of fun and learnt a lot. Moona ( hope I spelt that right) is very experienced and a great chef. She was very patient and cheerful and I hope we lived up to her high standards. I have never chopped onions so finely in my life !!! We enjoyed the market tour and stopped of to buy essential herbs... More

An excellent introduction to the Moroccan cuisine. You can not become a master chef in one session but your kind and expert hosts are helpful and creaye a very pleasant atmosphere. A good start for further development in the secrets of this delicious cuisine

This was one of the highlights of our holiday in Essaouira. We were grouped with 6 other people, a couple and a family and it was such a fun and friendly atmosphere! Chef Mona was brilliant and the English translator was also excellent. We learnt how to cook carrot & courgette brioates to start and a chicken tagine with caramelised... More

This was a fun experience with delicious food, but seems less 'authentic' than the cooking class we had in Fes where we actually went shopping for the ingredients in the medina and worked with the riad's cooks (who are not professional chefs) to create dinner. Regardless, it was great to engage with Moona and Alison, the facility is spotless and... More

Excellent surroundings and fun hosts with a good knowledge of Moroccan cooking make this a great day out. We learnt how to cook a chakchouka starter and chermoula-marinated sea bream tagine. And then had the pleasure of eating it in great company! The trip to the Spice Souq is especially good - helping both to explain some of the details... More

My daughter and I have just had a great few days in Essaouira and the highlight was the cookery school. Moona and Alison were great and we both enjoyed both the class and eating our food for lunch. The trip to the medina with Alison was special and we both camr back enthused to try our new skills! Would definitely... More

We enjoyed our cooking class- especially the visit to the spice market. The hosts were strict but also funny. Enjoyed the other people in the class, too.

A highlight of my recent trip yo Morocco was the cooking class at L'Atelier Madada. We did a fish tagine as well as soup and mint tea. Our demonstrating chef and instructor were both professional and entertaining, and the class was well-paced. I learnt things about how ingredients react together that I had not known before. I am now looking... More
