Owner description: At the entrance of the old medina, in a former almond warehouse, l'Atelier Madada welcomes you under its stone arches. By small groups (8 persons maximum) and supervised by a professional team (a cook and a trilingual presenter) our hosts discover the secrets of Moroccan gastronomy and are initiated into the delights of one of the best cuisine in the world. In a friendly and casual atmosphere, those half-day workshops teach each participant how to prepare a full traditional meal that one can then easily reproduce at home.

We were six people in the class. We learnt how to cook a soup, and a tajine (the first person to sign up gets to choose the menu). We also went to the spice market while the food was cooking, and then we ate the food for lunch. Great kitchen, excellent people, really enjoyed it!

Five of us attended a morning class at this cookery workshop. We learnt how to cook a fabulous hot green pepper starter and a chicken tajine. We were taken to the spice souk and given a very informative talk on herbs and spices. Then back to the restaurant to eat our dishes. Mona our chef was super professional as was... More

Having done the cooking lesson once, I now leave it to my group to experience. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves once again in this lovely kitchen and felt they had learned a lot. The restaurant section where you eat what you have prepared is very tastefully decorated and the visit to the spice market is fun and educational. Great staff.

We were greeted by the very friendly English translator/front-of-house lady and were escorted to a very clean, tidy training area, where each of us had our own station. We met the wonderful cook lady whose name I forget alas. We learned how to make Chicken Tagine and brouiats, under her watchful eye. She is quite a character, and wanted to make... More

My boyfriend and I attended a cooking lesson here, we cooked lamb tagine and brewats and both were delicious. Trip to the spice market was a real insight as to what to look out for, and we got some good advise of where to eat and guidance on buying tagine pots. (I believe the first person to book the lesson... More

During our travel through Marocco in October 2014, we many times enjoyed the very tasteful and delicious food made in a tajine. We therefore decided, to discover the secret and the tajine and signed up for a cooking class in L'Atelier Madada in Essaouira. That really became one of the highlights of our trip. In very beautiful surroundings under the... More

Next to a beautiful restaurant, where you get to eat what you have produced, L'Atelier Madada lived up to expectations. Chef and English translator were super helpful, informative and made it all great fun. Cannot wait to recreate at home what we made today!

A highlight of our trip. The class was fun and informative. The chef who taught us paid great care and attention to what we were doing and was assisted by a woman who translated everything to English for us. While out tagines bubbled away we had a quick trip to the spice souk which was very informative. Then back to... More
