At the entrance of the old medina, in a former almond warehouse, l'Atelier Madada welcomes you under its stone arches. By small groups (8 persons maximum) and supervised by a professional team (a cook and a trilingual presenter) our hosts discover the secrets of Moroccan gastronomy and are initiated into the delights of one of the best cuisine in the world. In a friendly and casual atmosphere, those half-day workshops teach each participant how to prepare a full traditional meal that one can then easily reproduce at home.

Our family of 4 spent 2 weeks in Morocco and this was our favorite experience. It was a First Class experience across the board. The cooking class facility and attached restaurant are beautiful. Allison, the British expat who serves as a translator, was super pleasant, informative, and very professional. Considering the class incorporates a cooking lesson, a delicious 2 course... More

To me the star of this event was Allison, a British lady who interprets for Moonia, the chef. Together they provide an exceptional cooking course in this exquisite cooking school.

Came here with my girlfriend for my birthday. One tip about the Nightlife in the Muslim world: You can dress tight, but don't show skin. Especially legs. Wear heels if you want. With skinny jeans and a dress they're the local hottie standard.

I've had better cooking classes in other places, but this was still really nice. Chef is a true chef, and yet so patient with us amateurs! Rasheed was an excellent translator and offered great support. It felt as though we did not participate and do quite as much hands-on cooking nor learning as I've experienced at other cooking classes around... More

Thoroughly recommend spending a few hours with Mme Madada as it is an informative and fun way to learn about Moroccan cuisine. Really enjoyed the trip to the spice market as it was a hassle-free way to learn about the ingredients we used as well as others. From preparing mint tea to plating our courgette / zucchini side dish elegantly,... More

Fantastic day (10.15 to mid afternoon) spent preparing, cooking and eating a fish tagine and samosas. The workshop area was specially designed and built using marble workstations for 8 people. Everything was laid out ready for us. The amount of interesting information we were given (as well as the instructions for cooking our dish of the day) was amazing. I... More

If you are in Essaouira then you need to check this out. A fun, educational and tasty cookery lesson. I'm really looking forward to taking what I have learned back home with me to test on my family. They have a great website with all other recipes you can try out, which I am also excited about trying. Allison and... More

My husband and I took the Moroccan cooking workshop one morning during our stay recently. We had a lot of fun with Mouda the chef and Alison who translated as well as taking us on the tour. It was a very different thing to do on holiday but we loved it especially eating our own efforts afterwards. Very good value... More

An excellent way to spend a day in Essaouria. The cookery lesson was fantastic. Very informative and everyone learnt something new. Starter and main course cooked & then enjoyed it the beautiful adjoining restaurant. A trip to the local spice market whilst the tagine was cooking gave a great insight.
