This island is stunning and very pretty with crystal clear water. It's great for diving so many places offering competitive prices too. Not too much else going on though and very little nightlife. No ATM so bring money!

Went there for 4 times, different years. love the view, the corals and the clean pristine beach. The corals and sea life are lively and plenty. The water is crystal clear - guaranteed. cons - no night life, not much too do except for strolling by the beach, snorkel, dive and stuff. No other attractions. nevertheless, i adore the view,... I was expecting much more as everyone saying it's like paradise. LOL sorry guys but this is far far away from paradise,if you compare it to an average UK city then yes,it can look like paradise but comparable to other islands in Southeast Asia it's an extremely overpriced placed full of silly tourists, tonnes of broken corals, very very poor accomodation and... If you like snorkeling Perhentian Besar is like paradise. Without any boat you can swimming all the time in clear water. It was fantastic to meet sharks and turtles on first snorkeling. Island is without any roads and cars, so if you want to go to other side - only by foot through the jungle with a lot of monkeys.... More

I went here by myself following a week working in Singapore, so I wasn't necessarily like the main holidaymaker to the islands - backpackers. I stayed on Kecil, the smaller of the two islands, so small it has two main beaches n either side of the island separated by a small jungle path between them that is about 80 meters... More

Great diving, good backpacker style nightlife, stunning beaches, crystal clear water. Two downsides. Accommodation is expensive for what you get. Either improve accommodation or bring down prices (latter would be better, quite like that its still not over run by loads of massive hotels- just one or two). Also the food on the island, really struggled to find anywhere decent.... More

Its was a long distance to go there from Kul. Howereve, I used Yumi Guest House's picking up service with cheap prices. The services are inluded picking up at Sultan Mahmud airport and cano from Terengaru town to island. Beautiful landscape, nice beach, quiet resort... Its so nice to relax here but scarce accommodation. No wifi, no moderb entertainments. Foods... More

This Perhentian islands have everything what tropical islands from the travel catalogue should have : beautiful beaches, white fine sand, jungle, warm and clean ocean. Even though offering all this, they are still not sought after by too many tourists, which preserves the islands beauty. You'll find great spots for snorkeling. We did the jungle trek through the island, where... More

My husband and I spent four days at the Perhentian Islands. Two days at Besar, two days at Kecil. Both islands are nice and if you like snorkelling, it is definitely a good place. Having said that, I don't think the corals are in a very good condition as some people described here. The snorkelling companies that organize the snorkeling... More

Now we are biased to the Islands as my partner proposed so they will always be special. If you are going for snorkelling and sea life then it's the place to be. The sea turtles and sharks are amazing! We saw them every day.. It just takes a bit of patience. We swam to them on our own and found... More
