nice walk in the evening, lots of poeple around, nice atmosphere, nice people, lovely boat show when we were there
on my recent visit to the city of Kuching, most of the time I used to spend was in the Kuching Esplanade. People used to jogging along the river banks and it is really a nice spot to do exercise. Moreover, the views along the river are marvelous. At night you may able to see people selling goods, fruits and local delicacies .Most of... Whether the reflected lights at night, the views across the harbour or people watching, this is a great place to be. No wonder that so many just sit and watch the world go by. Kuching is a relaxing city anyway, the Esplanade, with the markets, the juice and ice-cream stalls, the cafes, etc., etc. is a spot to forget about... More
This part of Kuching has been very well planned...it runs alongside the river on one side and the old original houses/shops on the other. It is a very popular spot for couples and families to stroll. It is from here that you get access to the river boats. There is also quite a bit of history "on show" along the... More
One kilometre waterfront with river boats that offer one hour trips (MYR19- to MYR55- depending on size). There are cafes and drinks available . Best time is at sunset when it is cool . Cross over to other side of river (opposite Hilton ) ,there is a large food court on river bank with great food and low prices. Ferry... More

Of the various stalls selling food, it was noticeable that one opposite the Hilton was very popular with the locals judging by the amount of cars stopping there. Always felt totally... More
The Kuching Esplanade is a lovely place to take a walk in the evening, its well lighted and breezy in the evening. In the day, it can be a little hot and one can see the traditional boats sailing along the river as well.
We went here around 6pm and bought drinks from one of the stalls, from here you can see the astana and the nice gentle waves of the river. We concluded our nice evening stroll by eating in at the "Little Lebanon".
We enjoyed a few evening walks here. One night came across a cultural show that was fun to watch. Street entertainers and souvenir sellers as well as a few eating places made it good to explore. Try catching a little boat across the river just for something different.
..we were a little disappointed after reading many positive reviews of the river walk in the guide books. All rather subdued and quiet when we were there. Pleasant enough to wander along in the evening and despite the lack of people it felt safe to do so. It is clear that effort has been invested to make the esplanade attractive... More
