If you are strolling by the night, it is a very interesting lightning and views with colorful neon lights. You will see a lot of stalls selling the typical Kuching souvenirs with a very reasonable rates. Strolling down along the esplanade and see those boats ferrying passengers to the other side of the river is a memorable sight.

Kuching Esplanade offers great view of the Sarawak River and the Astana and is a nice place for an evening stroll. There are a few stalls & restaurants nearby, to quench your thirst on a hot day. You could also pay the Pak Tambang (boat man) RM 0.50 per person for the river taxi to the other side of the... More

Nice views particularly at night but overall very little there. Thus may change when the walking bridge from one side of the river to the other is constructed.

As many reviewers have stated, it is nothing special but you feel safe and there is always something going on. A big bonus for us was that one of our favourite restaurants, Sir James Brooke, was situated just off it. The views of the river, the Astana Palace and the city hall all add to the ambience.

Clean, well managed place with some food and tourists(gifts) stalls. Good walk around the water front. There are a few river cruise tours to take tourists around the river. Within walking distance to shops and hotels .All in all a good place to relax and spend some time in Kuching

A must visit destination for evening or night stroll. Local snacks are found along the walkway. Many souvenir shops are located across the road. The majestic Astana (Palace) and state assembly hall can be seen across the Sarawak River. Sometimes, cultural shows are performed at the mini Amphitheater. Normally you can find local talented youngsters basking after 7:30pm. A small... More

Stayed at Hilton so Esplanade is across the road, it is a nice clean stretch of walkway along the river, in the evening lots of options for cheap local food.
