The market is interesting for an hour, but I agree, don't make any special effort to be around on a Sunday just to visit it. There are other markets in KK city that are (in my opinion) even more interesting, and open every day. Visit Central Market, and Handicraft Market, right next door to one another, and open every day. more

Market is full of imported bad fake sunglasses, crystal necklaces etc... it closes about 1pm and you can see all of it in about 1 hour. The food and natural medicine products are interesting but that's about it. more

If you are in Kota Kinabalu on a Sunday, this place is a must. Try starting from the side near the Mandarin Hotel. You'll find all sorts of things in this street market: souveniers, freshly ground coffee powder, art and handicraft, food, herbs (ant nests included - never asked what it was for), pets, fresh produce - just about anything.... more
