You are entering the rainforest, leeches included. Elephants, red leaf monkey, tarsier, orang utans, hornbills, silver langurs, samba deer can all be seen with a guide. But it is rainforest: high temperatures, very high humidity, rain at times, mud, vines, insects. If you do not like these on hikes/treks do not go there. More

Loved - the walking tracks; food; guides; rooms with the views! Disliked - the leeches even though I didn't get any! More

While this valley is used comercially for logging, the drive is amazing for the forest - we even save an oragutan in the wild while driving to the lodge. More

The true is, that the trip costs money, so once you decide to stay at the resort, book luxury rooms instead of standard ones. Luxury are about 10% more expensive, but they are by the river and provide more privacy. I stayed at standard room number 10, which should be specially avoided (also number 9) because of noises comming from... More

If you want to experience primary rain forest, the Danum Vally is one of the best places in Borneo to go. It is about a two-hour drive from the last town through the sticks to get there, but really worth it in terms of the abundance of wildlife you wil see. More

We visited Danum Valley in november 2011 with our 4 year old daughter. The trip to the lodge from Lahad Datu takes 2 1/2 hours by four wheel drive and bumpy roads, but the scenery along is fantastic. The lodge is in the middle of the rainforest but has all the comfort you can wish for. All the staff, from the... More

A real treat if you want the jungle experience but with a bit of luxury. The rooms were lovely. Deluxe rooms have outdoor bathtubs on the balcony. The food is very good and plentiful and the nature guides were really friendly and knowledgable. A great experience. A highlight of our trip to Borneo and would absolutely recommend. A wee bit... Well worth the travel time. Pass through miles of deforestation and oil palm plantations to finally find pristine rainforest. Excellent wildlife viewing opportunities: orang-tangs, hornbills, insects etc. More
