No doubt it is a very beautiful mansion but everything ends here. Other than the building itself, there's nothing much left to be admired. Explanation wasn't thorough, the guide is rushing everyone and the antique furnitures aren't as 'special' as those that i saw in Melaka. They could have done more on the explanation part. Anyway.. it's worth a visit... More

I made a visit here (take the free CAT bus, walk toward the blue mansion) and just in time for the tour. For rm16 the guide brings you through the life of mr cheong and restoration works to the mansion. Guide was quite detailed and funny(i got clement). Agree with previous reviewers that other lauguages could be conducted as non-english... More

The history is interesting. The restoration of the house impressive. The tour guides are knowledgeable and fun. But the groups are too large. The tours are in English, but they need to have guides for the Chinese groups coming in, to inform them and keep them from walking all over the place, disturbing the group trying to listen to the... We took the tour around the Mansion which was not too long but covered all we wanted to see and know. Our host for the tour was brilliant, funny and knowledgable but you can just wander around on your own if you want to. Only thing I would say is that if you do follow the guide you really need... The restoration of the mansion is fantastic! Must go when the tours are conducted as there's so much more to hear and the guide was very animated and informative. Great finding out more about the man who built the place. There's also a hotel onsite and they are restoring other parts of the house to increase capacity to 18 rooms.... More

We enjoyed the tour very much, the guide was able to give important information of this historical place. There is so much similarity between this mansion many of the heritage buildings in Singapore. The Indigo Blue is magnificent. How I wish more old buildings are preserved this way.

I quite enjoyed the tour of this mansion. It wasn't the most amazing thing we did in Georgetown, however the guide was very entertaining and informative. The price was only 16RM and it only took 1 hour!

This mansion is made up of several buildings which I am quite sure has quite a story to offer if you were allowed to see it. Your tour will take 1 hour and you will be asked to wait until the next tour to start before being allowed to enter. Your tour guide will spend 30 minutes of your hour... More

beautiful mansion house built by very wealthy Straits Chinese trader, showing how local traditions (sunken central courtyard which would fill with rainwater to cool the house), wooden screens, could be mixed with the best that Europe had to offer - Venetian glass, British ironwork - togive an eclectic mix of East and West.

Excellent tour guide, a fascinating story of "the Rockefeller of the East" and a beautiful restoration.
