I went up in early morning but felt disappointed to find there is not much to explore there. As soon as I arrived, I saw some jeeps waiting and I felt bad. There are a temple and a mosque. I tried to explore a bypath but it doesn't go to anywhere and I needed to return on the same way.... More

Travel during the week as early as you can,as the queue can be very long.Once up the top take the three walks marked ABC to get away from the crowds. We saw some amazing butterflies in this jungle section.

You have a fabulous view of Geogetown from the hill. Lots of sights to see. And what is also very important it is much cooler there than in the city. If you have time, stay till the lights of Georgetown are on. And go on a weekday.

A nice and quaint place to visit for a bit of cool weather. The tram is super fast now. Owl Museum was cute. Still a bit of construction going on that wasn't too welcoming but otherwise the views are nice. A good place to just chill out with friends.

There are two ways up to the top of Penang hill, the expensive Funicular railway or a very steep road that leads up the opposite side. The walk up is a very steep 5 Km slog which took us the best part of three hours and few big bottles of water. The walk is very rewarding as on the way... More

Interesting ride on the funicular railway up Penang Hill with a fantastic view of the island from the top.

We have visited Penang hill in the daytime and at night, it gets pretty busy in the day and crowded whilst up at the lookout, the view itself is pretty spectacular, easy to see various landmarks such as the Penang bridge, be warned take a hat, water and plenty of patience. The night view is far prettier, try and get... More

Went there during December Christmas holidays. Long queue to buy tickets and a crammed funicular train up. Do not go during local school holidays as locals love to go up to escape the heat downtown. Better to eat in GeorgeTown than up, as there are more choices of the famous Penang hawker food and it's cheaper too. Not much to... More

Our family visited the Penang Hill in the last minute in the night. Usually the fees for the tram ride is RM$30, but we paid half price after 8 pm. The ride up was fun as we see the lighted city emerged from the hills as we ascend. The nite view was breath-taking. It was such a great end to... More

The train ride upbthe hill is good, and the view of Penang is great. But the cafe is terrible, basically drinks with either chips or one flavour of ice cream. Poor service too. Also up there is an awful aviary with some very old cages and about 20 sad birds. Also there is a quirky temple and a mosque, neither... More
