After the Muslim temple we visited the botanical gardens shortly afterwards. it was raining but not heavily and we saw greenery, trees, some flower and plenty of monkeys. It was a place well worth to visit because entrance is only about 5ringgit or 1 pounds. We are overawed at the extremity of the tropical flowers and the atmosphere.

It's really a nice park with old trees to walk around for a few hours, but don't expect beautiful flowers and exotic plants. The monkeys will leave you alone, as long as you don't feed them. You can take a rapid bus.

We took the no 10 bus from The Weld Quay bus terminal, and it was RM2 per ticket. Buses seem to run every 45mins and the journey took about 30mins to the Gardens as the bus route is a bit circuitous. We went on a Wednesday and got to the gardens about 11.30am, and it was quiet - I suspect... More

Free to enter, it'll take a couple of hours to walk around. The gardens are very pretty and quiet but in need of a bit of TLC. Take plenty of water and mosquito repellent with you.

We arrived here to see monkeys in the wild and lots of interesting trees flowers etc. Nice spot to take in some quiet time in a busy place. There is a little bus you can take a tour on within the gardens if you are unable to walk the distance.

As with everything in Penang this place is green. What struck me the most apart from the abundance of monkeys tackling the rubbish bins about the place, was the roots on some of those big old trees. Roots sticking out as high as some shrubs. Must be so old. A nice walk can be had around here, or a little... More
