a lush and beautiful garden

Penang is a tropical island. The botanic garden benefits from that climate. It is beautiful, on a hill, and offers pleasant walk.

Penang Botanical Gardens is a well kept, pleasant place for a walk preferably in the early morning while it is still fairly cool. There are 2 main paths, one a gentle circuit of about 2/3 km and another more hilly and longer walk. Usually some Macaque monkeys around and they can be rather bold and may try to snatch loose... On Sunday mornings, this place has loads of people walking, exercising, jogging, and enjoying the serenity which the green undulating landscape provides. The streams and monkeys add to its natural beauty.

A very good place to jog or just walk around while discovering different kind of plants in Penang. The air is very fresh in the morning and there will be monkeys sometimes.

These gardens have so much potential and could be a,azing but we fuond them lacking love and care. Be careful of the monkeys which try to steal your camera and bags

It is very humid in this attraction for obvious reasons. My 5yr old grandaughter absoloutly loved the butterflies and seeing them come out of the pupa. So many things to see.

As with all botanical gardens, this was fairly manicured and tidy. But its location in the crook of forested mountains gave it a very natural feel with plenty of wild bird song and sightings of some interesting birds visiting from the nearby forest. Will definitely go back for another visit. Opens at 5am!
