A great place to do outdoor exercises, whether joggoing, yoga and chest press up, this is the place for people who love sweating out... There are coconut stalls along the way to the Botanical Garden to hydrated for everyone after the tedious workout in the garden.

Feed the monkeys peanuts they love them but will chase you...hehehe. We saw one monkey steal a little girls ice cream! She was not happy....the monkey was very impressed and sat there eating it holding it by the cone and licking it. The gardens are very pretty and well maintained and well worth a visit.

Go here only if you have spare time & have already seen everything else on the island. Nice park, but nothing special. The only bits we liked: area close to a river & entrance arch made of flowers.

Beautiful gardens , both formal gardens like japanese garden, sunken garden etc as well as informal gardens and Fern gardens., Walking path to climb Penang Hill and to see the waterfalls.Lots of sitting areas at regular intervals.A heaven for botanists and gardeners.

Don't go on wednesdays.. its their maintainace day so they lock all the 'cages' where they keep the plants. I fooly went on the tram/bus service (10 RM for foriengers / 3 RM for Locals) The route the bus takes is short.. the garden is much bigger than the tour they take you. I recommend to better go around walking... More

People come here to see monkeys. I bring visitors here to see monkeys, but they can be a bit aggressive. They are known to go after tourists with soda bottles (particularly coke) and sometimes chase small children to steal their food. You will see monkeys here. Please be respectful that they are wild animals and not pets.

The botanical garden is more of a park that once was a botanical garden. But it is an awesome park. The people are friendly and mostly polite. The tropical plants, trees, and wildlife are worth seeing. Keep your eyes open for the little wonders: butterflies, turtles, snake(?), frog, lizards, and fly/bee/wasp pollinators. The hike to the top of "Penang Hill"... More

Not having very high expectations of the gardens I mainly went to see the monkeys. The gardens are nice to walk around to get out of the city for a while but poorly maintained, there is often garbage around (with monkeys eating it) and the large green houses, ferneries that I thought would have been the best to see were... I read about the Gardens in my Lonely Planet which specifically mentioned the Japanese and the Bamboo Garden as a must-see. Too me, it was nice spending an afternoon there but if you are short on time, you can easily skip the Gardens without missing out on something. Sure, there are monkeys and they occasionally come very close to visitors,... More

Enjoyed visit, however very disjointed with tram ride. Cost 10 ringgit being 60 ringgit for my family. We had one stop which was about 5 minutes then ripped back down and told end of tour. 20 minutes max including timed stop. It would have been nice to be provided with detail about stops etc to be given option to walk... More
