For those who like strenuous exercise the VERY VERY STEEP Climb on the road From the Botanical Gardens to Penang Hill is highly recommended. For the hour and half your heart will be pounding. Most of the locals, of whom in the afternoon there are hundreds, will remain exercising in the easier hills at the Gardens. The climb up is... More

A great place to visit. A well maintained and beautiful botanic garden. What drew us there was the chance to see monkeys! Although you are not allowed to feed them they are roaming everywhere and are curious enough to get very close. A free attraction that gives you a great 'Penang' experience. Highly recommend

We first went here 22 years ago. Lovely to come back again. We strolled around most of the gardens(too hot to do more than stroll!). A lovely green oasis, making you feel you were a long way out of the city( but only 20 minutes or so!). The dense tropical rainforest on the surrounding hills makes a beautiful backdrop. The... well maintained botanic gardens and very lovely to walk through but be aware of the very aggressive apes. They do can attach you and you'll never know what kind of diseases the are carrying.

If you hold an ice cream cone in your hand, the alpha male monkey will come for you in such a menacing manner showing you their snarling teeth and all you will have to throw it at them out of fear . Doesn't matter if you are an adult or child. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The botanic garden of Penang, an island in Malaysia is located over a hill overlooking part of the island. The road up the hill is narrow and very tortuous with stalls everywhere selling durian fruit. At the entrance you can go on foot or join a guided tour in an open train on wheels around the garden. You can see... More

We caught the bus, which was tricky because the #10 bus doesn't run all that frequently. The monkeys are not very aggressive, the gardens themselves are beautiful, and it's very humid which means it gets quite hot. There appears to be a motorised vehicle service which you can hire or purchase a ticket on that takes you around to the... More
