Foreigners pay 10MR and locals only 3MR. Transport is not available at the times they advertise. The garden not that great to look at. Went in and out at a speed.

OK these are not the largest Botanical Gardens in Malaysia but what they have is very well maintained. The Electric Buggy service taking you around the gardens is excellent. Definitely worth a visit whilst in Penang.

Visited recently and was firstly impressed by the excellent ground-keeping, the paths, manicured lawns, sweeping, excellent use of compost and recycling of natural materials. But was disappointed to find 90% of the flora behind small gauge fencing so you could not get up too close, nor could you take a decent photo :-( The reason given is visitors pinch/borrow/steal cuttings,... We spent a beautiful 3 or so hours walking across all the grounds of the Botanic Garden & it was fantastic. We went as a group & strolled & meandered through all the different gardens & areas. We also witnessed a wild monkey terrorise a group of ladies lunching in a rotunda. This one little monkey soooo wanted their drink... More

Lovely walks but with an open vehicle available at a small charge to drive around this rather hilly park. Free roaming monkeys were prolific in the mid 70s but are substantially down in numbers now. They stiff can be found at the entrance area.

After spending a scorching hot afternoon in the hustle-bustle of Georgetown, this was a nice little retreat in the evening. It was very cooling and fresh, a contrast from the afternoon weather. There were many families there taking strolls and jogging. We had a great time there.

The Botanical Gardens are lovely and serene, just a short drive from the center of busy Georgetown. We were on an all-day bus tour (compliments of our hotel) so only had about an hour or so here. Took the wee tram ride around the lower portion of the gardens, saw a number of exotic trees and a lot of monkeys!... More
