We had a great day with Pearly and her husband. Interesting market tour followed by a cooking class that was well organised and enjoyable. Only criticisms are the lack of aircon (the workstations are outside but under cover) and that I felt the day could have finished an hour earlier but we were a big group so it was not... More

Pearly is incredibly knowledgeable about Nonya cuisine and culture. My best friend and I took the class where she taught us how to cook Beef Rendang, Sambal Udang (stir fried spicy prawns), Char Koay Teow (stir fried rice noodles-- one of my FAVORITES). I was pleasantly surprised at how flexible Pearly was with our specific food requests. I don't eat... More

My husband arranged this half day cooking course for us on to do whilst on our honeymoon. It was one of the best things we did in Penang. Pearly has an almost unlimited fountain of knowledge and really opened our eyes in respects to the nutritious properties of food. The market tour was amazing, trying little bits and pieces of... My friend and I (20 something year old travellers) decided to take this class on a whim during the 2ish days we were staying in Penang. Based on previous reviews, we were expecting a positive experience, but I believe we got MUCH more than that! We called the day before at 10pm, and luckily Pearly answered, and let's know that... I was privileged to join a delicious monthly supper club offered by Pearly at her home. She and her husband, Chandra, are warm and wonderful hosts, presenting dishes, drink and desserts peppered with stories from their family history. The ten (!) main dishes allowed me to happily sample a wide range of Nyonya cooking, starting with nasi udong, a fragrant... More

From young we were bought up eating food and it should be your daily medicine. However bitter or horrible the ingredient are, mum and aunts knows how to make it taste delicious. The yin and yang balance is the first thing on our mind when we go to the market. I am glad you learn some tips of using some... More
