My best friend and I have spent the last week in Penang and Pearly's cooking class is a fabulous way to end on a high note. Pearly and her husband Chandra will pick you up at the hotel at 9:00am for a market tour, which makes a great introduction to the ingredients you'll use and the medicinal benefits of each... More

A wonderful day of sights, smells and of course, tastes! Pearly manages to inspire budding Nonya chefs 6 days a week with her characteristic enthusiasm for her native cuisine. We learned so much about different types of gingers, shrimp paste, making caramelised shallots, cooking simply with an on/off gas ring and lots, lots more. Chandra works quietly in the background... Pearly and her husband offer a great service for any foodies visiting Penang. You are picked up from your hotel at 9am and brought to a market where you see all the foods you'll be cooking with, and some little tasters (ideal for those who struggle to get up in time for more than a coffee before 9!). Pearly's garden... More

Pearly and her husband Chandra have a wonderful setup and make a great team in showing the best of Nonya cooking. Chandra collected us from our hotel - what a wonderful and warm chaffueur he proved to be! Loved the tour of the market, Pearly's tour through her garden and of course the cooking and eating! And just had to... More

I can only recommend Pearly's cooking class to everyone. Shes a fantastic teacher and we prepared awesome dishes. Curry Kapitan was incredible. Hard to get though in a restaurant.

Pearly and her husband Chandra were wonderful hosts. The market tour was very interesting and it was great trying a few of the local street food desserts. There were only 5 people in our class which made it feel much more intimate than the larger cooking classes we've taken in Thailand and Laos. We were the first to make a... More

Maybe we jog our memory to what happen on that day. Chandra had to pick up twice cos you overslept. We had to get the hotel to knock on your door but you did not wake up. So he went to pick up other guest, came back for you. Still you had not woke up. After some time, you woke... More

What a special way to spend a day in Penang. While we expected the cooking part of the day to be the highlight, the market tour proved to be the best part. Pearly's knowledge and enthusiasm for the ingredients was phenomenal. The class itself was great fun too and we really hope to be able to replicate the recipes we... More

Thank you very much for the review. You were easy to guide and teach. I thoroughly enjoyed the class even though it was full class. Do come again. Guest like you are the one who keeps us going. More

Excellent service: we were picked up at our hotel in Georgetown. First stop at the market: we could try several fruits, but i would have prefered to start one hour earlier and have more time to spend there. The food is so diverse and incredible good, or "yummy" als Pearly likes to say. Second stop at Pearly's home: everybody has... More

Our tour to the market is to share with us the great benefits of cooking wholesome food. Along the way, especially during the fruit season, I do stopped by some stalls to share some of the fruit you have not eaten. It is not a food tour where we spent hours eating everything all the time. There are many food... More

I've been to Malaysia three times, including two trips to Penang. I'm always looking around for the tastiest stuff to eat. It's very easy to find "pretty good" noodles and rice in Penang, but it's nearly impossible to find food that tastes as good as what Pearly will teach you to make. The food that I ate at Penang Cooking... More

Thank you for the review. Malaysian food is unforgettable. I myself cannot finished eating them in a year. Assam Laksa and Nasi Ulam are real food of Malaysia. Come again and I did promise to come to Korea. Thanks for the invite.::)) More

After traveling around Southeast Asia, I have come to believe that Malaysian food, specifically Nyonya cuisine, is the best. So when I booked a short trip to Penang, I knew I had to find a cooking class. Luckily, I saw Pearly on a travel program, and she seemed so knowledgeable and fun, I booked a class immediately. She shared with... More
