Tom and I had our best, most hilarious, day in Penang, learning to unlock the secrets of Nonya cuisine with Pearly as our, bubbly and informative guide and 'mistress'. After a curb side pick up, we alighted from the taxi 'we speak correct English here in Penang', Pearly declared, when we ooohed at her, at the local wet markets. The... More

I'm not really sure what I can add to all the wonderful things that have been said already, other than to say I agree wholeheartedly with them! As a keen foodie I booked the cooking class with Pearly after reading other TripAdvisor reviews, and it didn't disappoint. Pearly and Chandra are fantastic hosts, from pickup to dropoff and everything inbetween.... More

My sister and I chose the Nyona class, and from the minute we were picked up by our 'chauffeur' Chandra, we had a wonderful time. Chandra and Pearly are excellent hosts, and keep the pace moving very briskly through the morning. The visit to the wet market was interesting, but I would have enjoyed a few more tastes of the... What a great way to spend a day in Penang! From pick up to drop off a day to remember. The day began with a visit to a local market where we joined the other "chefs" to have a tour and insight to how real locals shop for the raw ingredients. The sights and sounds backed up by Pearly our... More

I contacted Pearly before coming to Penang as I wanted to learn how to make char kway teow, a favourite street food from my childhood growing up in Penang. We agreed on a couple of other dishes to add and made arrangements for the class. On the day Pearly's husband, Chandra, picked me and other students up from our hotels... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class with Pearly and would definitely recommend it. Chandra, Pearly's husband , picked us up promptly from our hotel and took us to meet Pearly to take a tour of her local market. This was a great place to learn and taste lots of different ingredients ,some of which we used in the cookery class.... More

This was an excellent course. Pearly is a great teacher and I learned so much from it. I can't wait to get home to England and to try and source some of the fresh ingredients if I can. My husband came with us because he is wheelchair bound and we couldn't leave him behind. Chandra, Pearly's husband was most helpful... More

I had a great time at the cooking class with Pearly and couldn't recommend it more. The market tour was good fun and it was great to learn about different ingredients on offer. We also had a taste of some of the street food on offer which was delicious. The cooking portion of the day was a great experience. The... More

We were so excited to do this class and Pearly did not disappoint. Chandra picked us up from our hotel at 8.45am and dropped us off around 2pm. We enjoyed the trip to the wet market, especially hearing about the different nutrient qualities of the various foods. It was very interesting. Back at Pearly's, we learned how to make chicken...
