We were so excited to do this class and Pearly did not disappoint. Chandra picked us up from our hotel at 8.45am and dropped us off around 2pm. We enjoyed the trip to the wet market, especially hearing about the different nutrient qualities of the various foods. It was very interesting. Back at Pearly's, we learned how to make chicken... it was really great experience to cook famous penang food. We cooked mee goreng and Char Koay Teow. We are picked up at our hotel at 9am in the morning and had a tour at local wet market. it is good to feel a city by visiting its wet market. Pearly also bought us some local street food, very delicious.... More

Chandra and Pearly are very gracious, kind, and welcoming - we enjoyed cooking 3 delicious dishes with them, and learned a lot! I would definitely recommend doing this class if you have the time while in Georgetown - the class takes up a good chunk of the day - we were picked up 845 and dropped off around 1530. One... More

Your recipe sheet was for 4 to 6 people. On the class day, you were cooking for 1 person share. So all ingredients were divided by 4. It was fun having you in the class too. More

You know how when you are traveling, everything is just a little bit crappier than it's advertised? Usually it's not bad enough to be fraud, but always just a little smaller, a little dingier, not really as close to the sites, or a few minutes shorter than expected. Pearly's class was exactly the opposite! It was better than we ever... More

We joined Pearlys class during a recent trip to Penang based on TripAdvisor recommendations and reviews. We were not disappointed! We were picked up by Pearly at our hotel at 9am. We then met up with other participants at the market for a tour. Now to be honest we really were not interested in this part of the tour when... More

If you are into food, this is a must do activity. We got picked up in the morning from the hotel by Pearly the "teacher". It was a joy to be around her. We went to a wet market with fresh fruits and vegetables, she told us what they are and we tasted and smelled them. After that we tried... More

I am actually from Penang originally and being in Sydney, you do get cravings for things which are sometimes not as easily available or as authentic as you recall. This was an excellent way to pick up a couple of recipes of things I have not been able to get right from following cook books. The recipes aren't dumbed down... More

I loved when you tasted the food and remember the smells and flavor you knew since young. It is always so nice when a local returns to cook. Thank you for the great time. More

My friend and I got more than we expected with this cooking class. It was an absolutely lovely day with amazing and interesting people. We were picked up and brought to a wet market where we got to learn a lot about local foods. We also tasted some of the most delicious street food that I don't think I ever... More

If you love the food of Malaysia as much as l do then learning to cook with Pearly is a great souvenir. My husband and a friend and l stayed in Penang for 6 weeks and it seemed as if every day's meals were better than the day before. As the time to leave drew near we realized we would... More

A wonderful way to learn about the food of Penang, we were collected from our hotel and met up the the rest of our group for a tour around the 'Wet Market' a truly fascinating experience with lots to see, taste and smell. Then back to the house for a cooking lesson. Delicious chicken curry, lacy pancakes, and prawn sambal. Pearly... More

I am happy you love our heritage lacy pancake and curry. It is a fusion between Indian and Malay food cooked by the Chinese. How about that. I always refer this to the harmonious fusion. Thank you for learning and eating our food. Definitely made my day when you keep going back to do the pancake and wiping the plate... More
