As a new expat in Penang, I was eager to learn some local cooking techniques so I signed up for this class. We met at the local market and Pearly gave us an excellent tour. Since I will be shopping regularly at this market, it was great to have a great guide to the best stalls. We were treated to... More

Our day began with a hotel pick up with our wonderful host Chandra. Chandra talked to us about life in Penang en-route to the local markets which was very interesting. Upon meeting Pearly we wandered through the markets learning about the different herbs, spices, vegetables, fresh seafood etc whilst stopping to taste and smell. It was wonderful to learn about... This was our first cooking class ever and it has set the bar quite high! Everything, from the first email contact to transfer back to our hotel was impeccable. We really enjoyed the market tour with all the insights to local fruits, vegetables, roots and other important ingredients to Malaysian cuisine. Also, it was great to be able to taste... More

The punctual hotel pick up, interesting conversations in the car, fascinating market tour (with delicious tastings) and fabulous cooking class combined to create a unique and truly enjoyable experience. Pearly and Chandra are professional and real. The cooking lesson was fun and we have tried out three of the dishes since we've been home (great holiday memories) and have more... More

Penang is an amazing place and the best way to experience it is through the wonderful food on offer. Whether that be the food markets or the hawker stalls. Smelling, seeing and tasting this in the incredible surroundings with the very friendly people of Penang is a great experience. Pearly's Homecooking school allows you to take a very small, but... It was really evident that at you both really care what others get out of the day. From the moment Chandra picked us up from our hotel, to the market tour, cooking session and shared meal we had the most pleasurable experience. Thank you so much and we can't wait to cook more from the signed cook book we bought... More

The course has everything, pick up and drop off, an eye opening trip to the "wet market" who knew chicken could be black? As well as a fantastic host Pearly and teacher. This is not to mention the food which is wonderful! My advice is to not hesitate and book straight away!! The best cooking course my partner and I... More

This was the first cooking class I had attended and I don't know how it will be beaten. Awesome from start to finish. The tour of the market alone is worth it - add to that the warmth, hospitality and knowledge of Pearly and Chandra and this makes for a memorable part of a trip to Penang! I'm a complete... More

This was my first cooking class in Malaysia and I fear nothing will be as good. Thank you Pearly and Chandra for a great day of cooking and laughing. The food we cooked was so tasty. The trip to the wet market and her garden was so informative about food as medicine. We had a good size group of 8.... More

Tom and I had our best, most hilarious, day in Penang, learning to unlock the secrets of Nonya cuisine with Pearly as our, bubbly and informative guide and 'mistress'. After a curb side pick up, we alighted from the taxi 'we speak correct English here in Penang', Pearly declared, when we ooohed at her, at the local wet markets. The... More
