Little India was a brief walk from our hotel in George Town, so we figured we'd check it out and grab dinner there. There are many food stands and restaurants selling very cheap, authentic Indian food. We tried quite a few things and the chicken briyani was probably our favorite. We enjoyed exploring so much that we came back the... More

There are several restaurants in Little India, onlya few metres from the tourist area of Chulia Street which serve Indian food from buckets. You have a banana leaf as a disposable plate, and every time you nearly finish a waiter will come with several large buckets and slosh more curry or pickles onto your leaf. Most people eat with their... More

We actually ventured here to early in the day for true atmosphere but it was apparent what a bustling place it could be. Hot, humid weather means you have to be determined to enjoy this place to get the best out of your trip. Set in the older part of town there are many interesting places to see, temples, mosques... Its like a true taste of India while not having to go there. The streets in this part of town are bustling with activity, it is laden with shops selling everything that has an Indian background, from clothes, music, jewelry, but most especially spice shops and a variety of Indian restaurant. These Indian restaurants are truly authentic and not what... More

Review AussieCowboy has given an excellent review of Little India. It really is a place that has a lot of character, and though opinions may differ amongst Indians on how authentic Little India really is, the fact remains that this is a place where migrant Indians love to congregate. The Little Indias around the globe are a miniscule representation of... More

If you have been to India and loved it, you will love it here. It’s like being in the heart of India minus the bad smells, minus the beggars, minus the dirt and the dust, minus the mangy flee-ridden half starved dogs, minus the searing heat (sometimes), and unfortunately minus the street cows. If you have never been to India... More
