George town is a very relaxing place with many amazing food on the street, if you are used to eat on the st, it could be a problem, but it is very good tasting. For this place, you have to have a guide to show you around, otherwise, you can't find the right place to eat and play. It is... More

Despite the initial protests from my 7 year old, the whole family loved visiting George Town. The town has a lively, welcoming feel. It was a great place to wander around, just looking at the art and architecture and visiting shops and cafes. We really enjoyed the pride that locals showed in their town and in their heritage. And the... More

Great place to cycle around and take photos with the mural arts. The place is closed for cycling on Sunday morning, so you are free to cycle around and not afraid of the traffic. A must do in Penang!

old buildings, new buildings, hawkers and everything in between make this a shock to the senses. in a good way. driving around in an air conditioned car is probably the way to go as the heat here was extreme for walking around. although that didn't stop others. we were told getting a rickshaw is also a fun way to explore... George Town feels similar to a lot of SE Asian towns - it's gritty and fun to explore. The thing I liked about George Town was its English style architecture. There also seems to be a street art movement - really neat iron worked pieces mounted on walls, murals, etc. There are also many charming cafes. It's fun to just... More

Stayed here for three nights before moving on to Batu Ferringhi so we concentrated on the town, not all of Penang. There are plenty of interesting buildings, temples and mosques to see, also Little India and China town areas. As it is so hot the FREE shuttle bus around town was a real bonus- just don't expect it to run... More

We loved the art trail around town, it's a bit like a treasure hunt. The old quarter gives a real sense of times gone past.

To experience Georgetown and its life and culture stay in the World Heritage Site and preferably in the Core Zone.Great food, history and culture, very friendly people ,safe .This is a Must destination but spend some time there. We had 10 days and still missed lots of attractions both culinary and cultural.2 to 3 days is not enough.

I spent in George town 3 nights. First get a bicycle and a motor for yourself. So much faster and easier to get around. The city is vibrant, old, dominated by Chinese culture. The old city has a lot of charming calm streets where you can walk around easily. The specialty of the place not just the old and special... More
