My Simple Advice - Take a ferry trip to or from Kuala Perlis as the journey is shorter compare to or from Kuala Kedah..The bus stand at Kuala Perlis is just a walking distance whereby you have take a cab to Alor Star Town for a RM20 journey...so why pay more..

We took this ferry from Kuala perlis to Langkawi (had taken an overnight bus from KL to perlis). Though I reached before the 730 ferry, I could get tickets only for the 830 ferry. and the ferry left late - and took forever to reach Langkawi.
