Last 3 years I visit langkawi using ferry no problem. You just wait about half an hour. But last year I re-visited langkawi using same transportation, i wait around 2 and half-hours at the jetty to get the ferry. The waiting hour is longer compared to the journey that is around 1 hour. But during the journey using ferry you may... More

Lack of comfort, rough seas, etc. don't really bother me but safety does. We took a trip from Penang to Langkawi in August and I was immediately concerned by some serious safety issues.....insufficient emergency window exits (would be very hard to open due to tight screws), no life hammers for other windows and luggage blocking all other exits were enough... We decided to visit Langkawi from Kuala Lumpur by bus and to reach there we need to cross the sea by ferry. From Kuala Lumpur, it takes 7 hours to reach Kuala Perils and from there the ferry needs 1 hour 15 minutes to reach Langkawi. With a little price, one should not expect much, the ferry has central AC... More

A fast way to go from A to B. Lack of service, Not even possible to buy a drink or anything. Basic form of transport. The rest is up to the ocean ;)

It is a cheap mode of transport however with it costing the same amount to fly from penang to langkawi I would not take the ferry. The boat itself is fine however it is a very rough trip and for the first time in my life I was sea sick despite loving being on boats, there were countless people vomiting... More

took the ferry from penang to langkawi...although the ride was comfortable enough but since all windows are above your head (while sitting down) there is not much to do while the boat is in motion ..the ferry terminal at Langkawi is a great one for shopping duty free.. also to hire cars for trips in the island.

Took the ferry from Kuala Perlis-Langkawi at 9:30 in the morning. I had booked tickets online but later realized that it can be purchased at the terminal too. Carry some warm clothes as it can be freezing if you get a seat near the aircon.

Going to Penang from Langkawi the ferry seems to be the easiest way. It’s cheap and only takes about three and a half hours. You can buy the tickets on the day of your trip at the Kuah ferry terminal. However, don’t imagine some German (European) ferry. It is a middle sized boat with one lower deck and seat rows... More

Travelled from Penang to langwaki on 8.30 am direct ferry ' would advise to get there at 8am as they are prompt when boarding and its also quite busy so better choice of seats . We were pretty nervous reading the reviews but Honestly never been more suprised . We took some seasick tablets just incase and practically slept the... More

hey what more do you want, comfortable enough, movies played each way, no big deal we travelled in April 2014, anyone happen to know the Asian martial arts movie they played coming back? On the way over it was 47 Ronin. when we arrived at Kuala Perlis in the hire car we were diverted by some parking guys, presumably they... More
