I took the ferry from Langkawi to George town (Penang). It was too loud but you can't expect to take a ferry and have silence. It's comfortable and usually they play a movie as it is a 2 hour 45 minutes ride but because of the propellers noise you won't hear much. They let you go out from the back... More

As we couldn't get any flights from and to the island we took the ferry to Langkawi an later from Langkawi to Perlis. The positive aspects first: -the low price -the few people actually on board, so we had enough space for our luggage. The trip was very bumpy and rough. Of course that is no the fault of the... Comfortable ferry, very smooth journey. The only objection I have is the air conditioning, it was quite high and everybody was using blankets or sweaters. I asked politely to the crew if it could be adjusted but they said it was not possible... So, get some warm clothes before boarding the boat ;) It took 2:45 hours to get from... More

Took ferry from Georgetown to Langkawi and it was cheap. It looks a bit dodgy but is definitely seaworthy. Take the express at 8-30 am for 66 MYR one way. Trip takes under 3 hours. We had smooth seas so it was a good trip. No food or drink available so bring your own. Air condition is set to freezing... More

we booked a return Ferry from Penang to Langkawi, we booked it through their website and picked u[p the tickets at the port. It cost 256 MYR (about £49) for a return for 2 people. It took about 2 1/2 hours, luckily the weather was not too rough, the seats are comfortable and they do run a film for you... More

Ferry from penang to langkawi was comfortable and quick. Enough time to watch a movie and a half. Remember to bring jacket as it can get chilly.

It took about 1 and a half hour from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi. I sat left hand side and in front of ferry. I felt sea sick and need to stand behind the ferry, ferry was full at that day. Need to sit behind and middle of ferry for those who have sea sick like me.

The ferry ride to Langkawi was good, There was a high swell closer about half way across but unless you have a very weak stomach or get motion sickness then it won't bother you. If you get a taxi from the ferry terminal make sure you negotiate the price first.
