Great place to see all the animals, it's a nice place to explore but they have bad maintainence, i'm afraid if the animals are living well there but still, it's fun to just go there once awhile and see if the animals are doing fine? HAHA. Go try it!

Once upon a time, Johor Zoo was the must-visited place for the graduation trip of primary school students. After 13 years, another visit totally screwed me up. Rusty cage, dirty street and smelly place were all we got during the last visit. Animals in the Zoo were skinny and inactive as before. Governmental management is just ineffective and very "Malaysia... More

I remember I visited here when I was 8 years old. After I have children, I also brought them come visit by 3 times. This is a very old history zoo in JB. Simple, moderate zoo. The entrance fees very cheap. It's a recreational place during weekend especially for family with young kids.

Expect to spend abt 2h or less there. Nothing much. Cheap entrance. Animals are nice. Enjoyed my trip there during CNY.

This is a really hard place to review. It's an old zoo. (Built in 1928). And there have been several attempts to modernise and improve which means that parts are really quite nice and other areas are dire. It doesn't have a website, it's own merchandise or a good cafe. And it's only RM3 (really!) to get in. All of... More

I am giving a high score because the zoo was great value. 2MYR / per adult. it is not a 'model' zoo. the facilities are old. not that many animals. some of the cages seem too small for the animals. this is definitely better than some zoos i have seen in SE Asia / Asia but nothing like a modern... They have a good selection of animals at this zoo but some are in pretty bad shape. The zoo also needs to expand the areas for the animals to move around in as some spaces are pretty cramped. I felt bad for the primates as they definitely need more room and so do the lions as they are out in... More

For the beginning - it is EXTREMLY cheap. So, for the money they take from visitors, it is more than well maintained. Animals are fanced and caged... It looks sad sometimes...But, they look not badly treated. I guess it is an opportunity to compare with more sophisticated modern Zoos, and give them there value. There is a vast bird collection,...
