Visited as part of a day trip. The views and architecture made it a worthwhile stop. Interesting history to the place - would have been nice to go inside but respect the beliefs.

The mosque is one of the most arresting architectural sights in JB City. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia and is listed as a protected heritage monument by the Department of Museums and Antiquities. Because it sits on top of a hill, overlooking the Straits of Johor, the panorama from the place is breathtaking.

Was beautiful but wasn't allowed to go inside! Which was disappointing, not sure why. But I wish I had known that before got there.

Facade of colonial and Arabic designs, beautiful white marble tiles and a manifestations of majestic and grand building. However, the ablutions and toilets area is inaccessible by the old and helpless, way to low and high for the steps are too many to climb. Management should consider a more feasible ways around.

I am one of those Singaporeans who frequents Johore Bahru for cheap shopping, makanan (food) and pump petrol. One day, I decided to take the opportunity to visit all the attractions In JB and one of them was this Sultan Abu Bakar mosque. A great mosque indeed as the architectural design was unique. I particularly like the quiet and serene... More

OK here it is - if you book yourself a half day tour to Johor Bahru from Singapore you'll effectively be taken from shopping stop to shopping stop. In amongst all that however you'll probably also be brought here and it isn't a break diversion from the retail therapy. The mosque is pleasant enough on its own though no masterpiece... More

It is the state mosque of Johor, Malaysia. Located along Jalan Skudai, Johor Bahru, the mosque was constructed between 1892 and 1900, under the direction of Sultan Abu Bakar. My friend brought me there on a very sunny day. I can't remember due to some reason we only can visit outside the mosque. So we just look at the architectural... More
