Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque (Masjid Negeri Sultan Abu Bakar) is the state mosque of Johor, Malaysia. Located along Jalan Skudai, Johor Bahru, the mosque was constructed between 1892 and 1900, under the direction of Sultan Abu Bakar. Tuan Haji Mohamed Arif bin Punak was the architect of the mosque. The mosque located up on the hill where enable you to get a great view of Johor Bharu city. This is an old building, of course with some modern touch of its extension to enlarge its capacity. But it is still doesn't hinder this unique old architecture. A good spot for the tourist I could say.

Its peaceful and tranquility sets an ideal location for worshipping. Johor Zoo is next to it if you have time... More

We enjoyed our visit to the mosque in part because of the great explanations by our guide, who was great about explaining every aspect of the site. We went there on a day threatening rain, but it was still interesting.
