It was a bit of a mission to get to if you are using public transport, bus from Blantyre to Likanbhulu (we stopped for lunch there and to get supplies) then a bike taxi or another van to bottom of the mountain, then a 20 minute hike to the hut. Walk past all the so called guides shouting at you... More

Location was great, the buildings were likewise. Beds, facilities were good. But,Oh, the dining room! Totally disorganised, food running out, chef trying to cook breakfast eggs whilst organising topping up of the buffet. Food randomly varied from very good through OK I Guess to very poor. maybe you'll be luckier More

Another 100MWK to park and 2500MWK for the guide up the hill. You don't need a guide but they pretty much insist. Its and easy walk really... More

I was blown away with how great my recent trip up Mt. Mulanje was. The mountain itself was stunning. And HUGE. Full of different ecosystems, streams, views, and varied plant life. The shifting weather all around the mountain means the same place may look extremely different from one day to the next. The infrastructure (available through Info Mulanje) is impressive... More

The Scene is heavenly. The air around is calm, the breezez make it more attractive. One feels like abiding right on top of the mountain itself. More

A few years a go I found a volunteering opportunity to teach in a rural Malawian school in a small village that sits under Mount Mulanje.
