While Mount Mulanje is one of Malai's hidden gems, and a great mountain, it won't be everyone's cup of tea to just turn up there, as things are a bit chaotic at the foot of the mountain. Visit one of the good travel agents in Lilongwe like Ulendo or Central Africa Wilderness and ask their advice for what suits you... more

Mulanje Mountain has everything. Beautiful scenery, an impressive peak 'Sapiwa', square miles of plateaux to be explored. The Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust can provide a mass of information. Exploration should be done with experienced mountain guides available at the Likhubula Forestry Office where accommodation on the mountain can be booked.
