I was pleasantly surprised by the Tsingy of Ankarana. We had been to the larger and more famous Tsingy I the east of Madagascar, which took days of travel and very expensive, and in the end where beautiful, but not more beautiful than these smaller Tsingy in the North of the Island. We saw beautiful flora and Fauna, great rock... More

This park is different than most parks in Madagascar. Great hiking, beautiful sites, waterfalls, reptiles, and the Tsingy is something to see. Rainy season limits the places you can visit, but it was still amazing. The road to get here is a tough one, so be ready for 3+ hours of bumps.

Don't try to do the bat caves and Tsingy in one day. You will die. Unless you're an athlete or a local who does this regularly, you can't carry enough water to survive that amount of exertion. We were so dehydrated I was losing my vision, struggling to talk and walk. I was considering drinking my suncream, then stumbled across... More

Great trails and wildlife, one of the highlights of Madagascar, with excellent guides, and reasonable accommodation next to the park.

We spent the night in the Arkarana area and it was great to break up our two hikes into different days. In the afternoon of first day we hiked to Tsingy and suspension bridge. The next morning we hiked to the caves. We started our hike near the campground and there were two groups eating lunch so this attracted several... More

This is a big park, so do bring your walking shoes. The hikes can be difficult over the Tsingi's and streneous going to batcave. Bring a lot of water but it's worth it. Lemurs, birds and very different landscapes. Every corner is another surprise. Do take a guide, you see a lot more

We made only a short hike in the park but saw the amazing "riviere perdu" (lost river), a large hole in the rocky ground that is in open connection with the distant Indian Ocean. There are brown lemurs in the forest. The other interesting sight are the tsingy, weird spiky rock formations.

The Tsingy Rary is most shocking scenery, the local guide is great, Mr. Goulam, he knows every plant and animal.
