Kok Tobe is a must-see in Almaty. The view on the city is amazing from there! There are also souvenir shops, a restaurant, a zooparc and a fairground festival.

My Kazakh companions took me on what was a rare treat for them (and me) - up past a rushing river (in which people were washing) and into snow - clad areas. Time stopped. We played snowballs and drank tea. Next day it was back to work, refreshed.

What a beautiful place it was...20 minutes to one side in the cable-car, and when you reach the other side, there are a host of restaurants. not so expensive compared to european cares.

at present the cable car is being refurbished so the only way up is by car to the parking lot and then by shuttle to the top. facilities are ok but the view is restricted to a small platform? watch the sunset from there!

We took a city bus from central Almaty to the last stop and hiked the rest of the way to the top of Kok-Tube (would have loved to take the teleferico, but as of this writing it is still under construction). On the way up there's a great spot to stop and take photos of the Almaty skyline and the... More

Undoubtedly some great views of Almaty. Fantastic to see the city in its mountainous context. A shame that the cable car still isn't working. They seem to be upgrading it and have been doing so for some months. (Number 99 bus will get you to the 300tenge shuttle busses to the top). Loved the quirky Beatles statues - essential Almaty... There is a nice view of the city up top and a restaurant to sit and get a drink. They have food but it seemed expressive for local fare. There is a mini-zoo and shops for picking up souvenirs.

From above you will have a nice view on Almaty, if the smog does not prevent it. This and the poor "Zoo thing" are the two things I don't like about that hill.

We have visited Kok-Tube hill with our friends. We went there by cable road (they call it flying tram). When you arrive there, you will see wonderful view of Almaty city. Recommend to visit.

Kok-tobe is a nice place/hill with a nice view of the Almaty city. You can use either cableway or take a bus to get there. There is a small zoo, outlook point and small amusement park for children. Above all you can meet here even a bronze statue of The Beatles. One of the places in Almaty that are worth... More
