Green Hill (in English) is a hill on the outskirts of Almaty. Difficult to get to (the cable car was not working at the time of this review), with an amusement park and small zoo at the top. The range of animals is limited, but many rides/activities for children. For an adult the main reason to visit would be the... More

Whatever it costs, the incredibly long cable car trip is worth it! The restaurant at the base of the ski fields is in beautiful surrounds and our light lunch of salads, soup and sweets was fresh and tasty. I can't comment on value for money, it being included in our tour, but it is "up market".

The cable car wasn't working but there is a bus. The zoo is predictably depressing and you would need to be less than 10 years old to find any of the rest of it at all interesting.

Old, soviet-type air-tram, small, but very appealing zoo, nice caffe with great Almaty view, nice attractive walk and even extreme "Russian roller coaster", all in one nice and comfortable trip. Do not drive there! Use the air-tram from the Abaya street, next to the monument (abaya / Dostyk (lenina)
