We visited Aomori from the cruise ship a shuttle ride into town took us to the huge triangular building, which is a landmark and houses the tourist information centre. Aomori is noted for its apple harvest and the products made from them. At the Auga shopping mall on the ground floor we sampled apple jam, preserved and dried apples etc.... More

I went to the port which is about 2km away from the train station to catch the evening ferry. It's a working port area with not much to recommend it. If people are talking about the touristy bay area - it has been covered under different sections of Trip Advisor eg. Ferry Ship Memorial. The bay area is easily walkable... More

We two walked lazily on the slippery path along the water front enjoying the magnificent view. Visited Aspen building, climbed up the onto the highway to enjoy the view of the city as well as of the sea, appreciated the A-building, and quietly mingled into the crowd of the city towards the end. Perfect!

I recommend you take the train here. The fast train or the local train from Misawa come here. The city is famous for apples and there are department stores, you can also walk along the bay. Its great.

First up was the Shinsen Ichiba fish mall near the Aomori train station, what a selection of sea food awaits you, The Aspam building, located on the foreshore near the pier is also worth a visit , on the ground floor there is cooked Japanese food available,... I am not sure what is meant by the port area but the area close to where the cruise ship's arrive appeared pretty tired compared to other waterfront areas that we had visited in Japan. The gardens, play areas and grassed areas were in need of a little attention. In fairness, the area had had a particularly cold winter &... More

There is a lot of great scenery, both day and night, around the Aomori port area (the Bay). Be sure to climb the stairs up the Bay Bridge for fantastic pictures of the bridge and the bay.

Easy to enjoy. Since you are around Aomori Station, 5 min walking from there you'll find the port. Definitely a nice place for great pictures!
