Fresh air, beautiful view

An healthy adventure. Breathtaking overview upon the Beppu city and the mountains. Beautiful forest, and nice bush promenade at the summit.

Personally, it is just another mountain with the view of the city, which is great. Not much else there though. For those who loves nature and relaxing walk to chill, do go up earlier, as we went little late around 15:30. Last bus down to Beppu is 17:30. Check the bus schedule, so that you don't miss the last bus!!!

Set in such a beautiful environment. Calm peaceful and charming. 360 panoramic views of Beppu, Oita and around. On a clear day, just so beautiful, plus not too pricey. Well worth it.

We probably visited in an odd timing; neither full summer nor anything left of spring. So there wasn't the beautiful flowers in bloom to partake. The gondola ride up depends a lot on the weather; it was cloudy and therefore no scenery either. A nice walking trial when you reach the top though, but some construction was happening up there... I climbed the Tsurumi mountain from the west trailhead in May. The people who like mountain climbing is recommended. Miyama Kirishima was very beautiful. You can also climb here by using the ropeway.

This is a short 2-ish hour hike to the top. On a clear day you can see the sea...but we had snow instead! If you're too tired to hike down, take the ropeway!

NB Mt Tsurumi is also listed seperately on Trip Advisor as the Beppu Ropeway - the name of the gondola that takes you up Mt Tsurumi. The gondola goes almost to the peak, then you walk the trails around the top. Views of the ocean and surrounding mountains are terrific. Wear good walking shoes. The trails aren't tough but they... As you may know, Kyushu rarely snows in winter. Being unable to experience snowy weather may deter you from visiting Kyushu. However, thanks to its altitude, Mt. Tsurumi is usually covered with snow in winter. Stepping out from the ropeway station, you can already feel the chill. When you walk uphill, you can find yourself surrounded by snow. If you... More

it's about a 20 min bus ride to get there, but if its a clear day the views from the top are well worth the effort - I had the cable car to myself when I went, so it certainly wasn't busy!

We arrived at Beppu Station around 915am. Tourist info counter on right as we exit station. The lady staff is very efficient in English and the info we wanted were given to us in less than 10 mins, which meant we had less than 5 mins to grab our breakfast (we skipped breakfast to be early) and be at the...
