Suginoi Palace is an onsen hotel in Beppu. They run a free shuttle service from Beppu JR station to the hotel. Wanted to try the onsen experience but am a little uncomfortable with the nudity aspect of it, so went to Aqua Garden since they allow bathing suits. Aqua Garden is like a swimming pool that uses warm water. It... More

Tanayu onsen is large and modern with indoor and outdoor hot tubs, locker room, and showers (always rinse off first). It's clothing-free and gender separated (English signs mark the 2 sections). Aqua Garden is a very nice outdoor swimming pool area downstairs from the onsen. It's mixed gender and requires swimwear. The water is warm and quite nice even when... More

So much to do here. Can spend hours here. The hot pools on the rooftop are a must, especially at night with all the lights and music shows. So riveting. Such an elegant and perfect place. Again totally worth the price.

Huge, modern facility overlooking Beppu. Star attraction is of course the Tanoyu or Shelf Onsen that overlooks Beppu. There are also other facilities like shops and F&B outlet, and a water garden with scheduled shows that kids would enjoy. (Swimgear required in the water garden) To be honest, the view from Tanoyu isn't as stunning as what you might get... More

On weekdays the bus leaves every 15 minutes until 3 pm on the hour and so forth and then every half hour. On week ends, it leaves every 15 mins. You cannot miss the purple mini bus in the car park, from the West side exit. Each bus seats around 25 people. Journey time if no traffic, 7 minutes! Cab... More

The hotel's dinner-and-hot spring package was great. My French guest couldn't believe that the dinner buffet had genuine foie gras, in addition to really soft beef fillets, king crabs, sushi, sashimi, and many others. We enjoyed the hot spring, with its various types of baths and a view of Beppu city. A plus was the light-and-sound fountain show right by... More

We went to the onsen at 7pm with the free shuttle that departs each 15 minutes from the Beppu rail station. It takes 15 minutes an you get to the huge Hotel. Once there, you get to the baths area where they will provide towels. Then you have two options (you can do both): - onsen (separate men and women... More

I hiked to Tanayu on my first night, before using the free hotel shuttle the next day. Woot! I love the hotel shuttle, though I freaked out the driver the first time, because he missed my stop and I asked him to go back ~ in Japanese. Tanayu was great with a hot bath, a cool bath, some kinda underwater... More

We play bowling there and the place is quite nice and clean. The kids were having fun. Not so crowded and there are lots of things to do here like bowling, arcade, water park and so on

AQUA BEAT, the indoor water park has closed down! The website has not been changed. We were greeted by Christmas decorations. The Aqua Garden doesn't open until 2PM and we arrived in the morning, so cut our losses and left.
