I did what I could with little Japanese to tell the staff here that the octopus tank needs dark glass to protect these creatures from the light, nor did they have anything to hide behind. The two octopii are white with fear -see the photograph which I took without a flash. As is usual in these places the larger the... More

I have been to aquariums and dolphin shows around the world. This aquarium really surprised me by it's high quality. You enter by going up an escalator through a sea tunnel like seascape which is dimly lit. Once you get to the top a big surprise is waiting for you - a huge, wide tank holding many, many sea creatures... More

Due to time restraint, we had no plan to visit this aquarium. But while waiting for bus at nearby pier, we saw groups of people heading towards the pier and heard whistle sound. We realized something was going on and found out it was the Dolphin show time. Three big well-trained dolphins were being fed and we watched the show... More

The Aquarium was very small. Not much to see. The dolphin show was not interesting especially if you are not speaking Japanese. Very little and simple dolphin performance. Most of the time was the host talking or TV showing some Q and A.My old mother felt asleep and asked to leave. It was nothing comparable to the aquarium in Hong... More

While very interesting, I found the aquarium presentation to be somewhat outdated, being seemingly more interested in the "gawk" factor than in imparting knowledge about the sea life presented. But definitely worth a visit if your interest runs to things marine.

Initially I thought the entry fee was a bit too high, at the end though I found it worth every penny. Although not too huge in size, Aquarium's rich marine life provides enough entertainment to all visitors so you won't be disappointed. Dolphins / otters put on quite a show flipping happily during their feeding time with kids jumping up... More

The entrace fee was Yen1,500, not cheap. Beautiful fishes, there are 3 dolphin shows in a day, we missed it as we did not understand Japanese loudspeaker. It is better to read the brochure in advance.

If you love Wildlife go here. Giant aquariums with many species from all over. Brightly coloured or scary looking, it's all here. Watch the Dolphin show from the arena, or from below, where you can see under water the power of Dolphins when they move to make a leap from the water above...amazing!!

From Sakurajima, we walked a short distance to the aquarium just to check out the whale shark. We were fascinated by the collection of marine organisms; from huge ones like the whale shark, giant electric eels, rays and Pirarucu to the microscopic planktons. There is also an impressive collection of shells. Best of all was the dolphin show but it... More
