When it's hot, just walking from one shop to another may be sweat intensive. But that's the design of the mall. Open spaces, au naturale along a water themed thoroughfare. You may handle some ice blocks along the way but that just gets your hands wet. A good selection of eats in the mall and a good selection of shops.... More

I went there for having lunch at Ichiran Ramen on B1 floor which contained lots of restaurants. I didn't go up to the other floors but I saw lots of people with lots of shopping bag, so I think you may like it if you like shopping. Canal city located near the canal but not quite close to subway, so... More

On our second last day of our trip, we finally made it to Canal City Mall and parked our car in the mall multi-storey car park. As we were not craze for shopping, we didn't expect much. However, surprisingly, my beloved found the small Moomin Cafe and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea there. There were big stuffed Moomin characters... More

Canal City has tons of shops to choose from, spread out among 5 different floors and 3 different buildings. We visited twice and still didn't have a chance to see everything. The Raumen Stadium on the top floor of the main buildings is a great place to sample the famed Hakata Ramen. The bottom floor is where the fountain show... More

Maybe it just seems like the Japanese love to eat and shop all the time. There were many cute shops that sold a lot of goods that Hakatans love. Watching the children at the water zone was immensely entertaining.

They seem to build everything "big" in Hakata. Canal City is no exception. It is a very large mall with anchors such as Uniqlo, Llaox, Coach, Zara, Benetton, Muji, and Ramen Stadium. It is the picture of the new, large mega-type malls appearing in Japan.

Family traveling with 2 girls. 9 & 12: We stayed at the Grand Hyatt connected to Canal City. We enjoyed shopping, playing and dining here. There were sales in all stores (August). Our girls enjoyed the hourly water show, Moomin Cafe, and the photo booths / arcade in Taito Station. The first floor is set up for kids with shops,... More

It's a teens target shopping centre(?) not too much big brand here, it was suitable for teenagers i think. Big sale here (Before Aug), and you may get discount more than in the outlet. Please give 1 day here for shopping :)

I only have two hours can spend in there, should be save more time in this... More

If you like shopping under one roof, then Canal City will appeal. There are plenty of shops here, though the complex is showing its age and looks dark and dated. For me, the standouts were the new, modern wing (airy, bright, big Uniqlo store), and the Moomin Cafe. The Japanese love Moomin, and I do regret not dining at the... More
