We tried exploring Fukuoka. However, when walked towards the center, we came across Canal City. We entered this strange looking building only to find out that it was very big. There are many shops but what really grabbed our attention was the performances. There was a band playing, someone was rapping and there was a fountain show. When we finally... More

Nice ambience with the canal surrounding the mall. Many shops like Disney Store, Agnes B etc and some local stores. There is a hotel at the mall and many eating places and souvenir shops as well. Good to pay the mall a visit, wide variety of merchandise.

Spent some time wandering around Canal City when we had some time to kill before we could check into our nearby ryokan. Nice shopping center with Japanese and foreign brands, connected to Hyatt Hotel. Go eat at Ramen (Raumen) Stadium of you want to try a variety of ramen from different areas of Japan. Delicious!

We were walking near the Canal City first day when we arrived Fukuoka. There are a few hotels right below Canal City but we found this mall rather boring. The food hall in the basement was a bit quiet and the shops are mostly chain stores. If you want serious shopping, I'd suggest to go near Hahata Train Station or... More

Just a 10 minute walk from JR Hakata Station. A great place for shopping, especially the 3rd floor with a great sports selection and range. There's also a section for only-made-in-Japan stuff and another section for all character-based and anime-based merchandise! The 5th floor's Ramen Stadium is also a must. Only set-back: MANY MANY tourists. So if you are looking... More

Huge multi-building multi-floor shopping complex connected by a series of pedestrian bridges, featuring fountains and a canal that separates it from Grand Hyatt hotel. Can get confusing for the first time visitor. Plenty of branded shopping (e.g. Bershka, Disney Store, H&M, Zara, etc.), restaurants, and the popular Ramen Stadium!
