Once your are 50 m off the subway, you should be able to see some deer at the entrance of Kofukuji Temple. The actual Park is located somewhere near Todaiji Temple. There is lot of road side store selling food for the deer. Just be very careful with the feeding as the deer can be agressive. They are very "clever"... More

It was my third visit to the place and I loved walking in the park and watching the deer again. Be ready for a long walk. And it is so hot in the summer. More

We went to Todaeji Temple ,what a lot of history here. It,s the bigest wooden structure in the world. The budda inside is huge. The deer park is a must see. One of the best things we liked was the food in Japan ,such variaty and tasty. The only thing that bugged us were the BIKES ,you have to be aware... More

Nara park was the main attraction of Nara. With the majestic temples, lovely park and lotsa wild deers roaming around, you'll feel like in the safari. Feed them and you have a totally different experience. They will nudge and snuggle around you but be careful as they might push and bite you. They are wild afterall. If you are lucky,... More

The park was established in 1880 and covers about 1,300 acres. There are approx. 1,100 deer which roam freely throughout the park. The deer are considered to be divine messengers. They are pretty friendly and you can buy "deer cookies" to feed them if you like. The park is very nice to walk around and many of the temples are... More

Nara is famous for its deer and basically if you come here, it is to stroll in the huge park, feed the deers and visit Todaiji Temple. Thats about it. It makes a good half day out from Osaka or Kyoto. Its okay for 1st time visit. More

When I sat on a chair under trees one dear came and bow, I was so surprise :-) deers are very lovely there but they can be very competitive if you have food in hand or in your bags, so you must be prepared. The park lake is very beautiful with a lot of trees around. Also dont forget to... More

Enjoy an afternoon feeding the deers. They will compete for your attention so be prepared for the occassional nudge. It is a fun experience so have your video cam handy! More

I visited this attraction quite by accident. I was using my Japan Rail Pass (a wonderful thing to have) to visit some attractions in Osaka and noticed a train that was going to Nara, the ancient capital of Japan and thought, "why not? I've got some free time." It was a quick trip to Nara through lots of interesting scenery... More
