You just have to be there to experience it. It's good that the area is compact and visitors can easily just walk about looking at shops and stuff. Plenty of restaurants....and maid cafés. The maid cafés are expensive and the food served is terrible, but the experience is unique.

Akihabara maybe small, but concentration of anime stuffs is a must go, if it's not your interest then I think food at the small alley and shops in the small alley Behind the mega should be of interests

I have been to Japan so many times but unfortunately never ever visited this place and my Japanese friend took me to this 'shopping heaven place' You can buy so many cute 'Souvenir' gifts and also can try some nice restaurants at good price.

We had two teenagers in tow so of course this was one of the places we had to visit. As soon as we emerged from the train station we were bedazzled by the lights on the buildings. In front of us was a Sega building, 5 storeys of different types of gaming machines. There is also a 18 and over... More

I have been to this place before but have never appreciated it until now. When my daughter asked me to buy her some anime related material, she suggested i buy it in this place. Lo and behold, upon exiting the JR subway, the buildings and stores that sell anime are lined up for your choosing. I was able to find... More

Easily accessed, electric town is a perfect example of Japanese current( no pun intended) culture. It is very strange to see many buildings dedicated to action figures and manga related goods. This is a good place to buy quirky gifts for your friends or yourself to remember japan by . For the ultimate experience in weirdness follow the girls dressed... More

I was pretty surprised by how Akiba had changed. Gone are the days of dingy used video game stores with good deals. The old standards are still there but the prices have gone up. Akihabara used to be THE place to find electronics and Anime related items. Don't get me wrong, some of that is still there but the whole... More

Hundreds of stores related to anime and manga can be found easily around JR akihabara station. You can also find few stores which provide japanese porn (movies and magazines), you can even find a large sex shop in a road corner!! Nothing to do here unless my title attracts you.

Must see and enjoy if one love electric expereinces. "Electric Town"When you think, probably think of retro game shops, manga, arcades, and a sea of anime and collectible figurines. Add go-karts to that list, this service allows you to rent go-karts and drive them in the nerd paradise that is Tokyo's Akihabara. Each kart comes outfitted with things like side view... More
