I did not actually have anything that I needed to buy, but just wanted to check out the hotbed of Otaku culture. Even in the daytime on a weekday, the area is full of locals and tourists alike, and there are many girls in maids uniforms along the way trying to entice you to visit the various maid cafes. One... I did not buy anything, much of the high tech electronics can be found in the USA on amazon for cheaper. But I did not come here for shopping. Came for the experience. Just looking at the pretty... Well, it is also quite nice here, they give you free tax by buying ¥20,000, but I am telling you, if you want to buy Instax, you must buy at Bic Camera! There is one near Namba Station just go up from exit B19, there is also 1 at Kyoto, it is near at Kyoto Station, but you can buy... More

On otaku(anime) side , a must try would be "maid cafes" . I went to "maiddreamin" . Spent $40 for full set (Parfait, souvenir, and a... More

Awesome shopping, an otaku's paradise. Amine everywhere. Maids on every corner handing out coupons for maid cafes. Awesome arcades.

Akihabara is very nice for electronics shopping, as everyone knows. But it is not easy to communicate, so if you want to buy something at a good price don't forget your dictionary for basic communication!
