Well, the picture here is of a Shinkansen high-speed train, not the Metro. The Metro has many trains and many lines, and you can get a day-pass. Cheap, quick, clean, safe, efficient. Excellent for going from place to place if you do not want to see sights in between.

The Metro in Toyko is a very easy, fast, reasonably cheep and ontime transport system to use while in Toyko for a few days. You don't need any Japanese to work it out and if you get lost you ask one of the many thousand rail officers. If the person you ask has no English understanding they will go out...

Visited Japan from March 18th until March 28.
Unlike the common notion that the sign Board /information board is not in English, we found English display in all Metro stations in Tokyo as well as English announcement inside these subway/metro trains. Even route map indicating the next stop was displayed in English on a 14 inch screen for passengers to...
