Good thing to do on a Sunday.

This can be tricky to find. But if you find the Yokouska Port Market, you can buy your ticket. The cost is ¥1,300 for adult, ¥650 for elementary students. Unfortunately, the BBQ... read more

Its a nice day out, although check first to see if the restaurant is open as there is nothing but drink vending machines availed if it's not.

Sorry to break it to you...but.......there are not any monkeys on Monkey Island. :( It is a great day trip though! Plenty of history to see.

Spent the day wandering around the island and through the old fort. Beautiful views of the water and lookout points. Great for a small hike!

I visited with my husband for sightseeing, great view of sea and nice breeze, good size of island to walk around. I saw that people were having BBQ, fishing, swimming, beach is not too big, looks good for fam with kids. Also, whole island is about historical place, you can see so many old Japanese military's facilities. So quiet, nice... More

I decided to go around lunch time and arrived at the dock at 1100. All trips to the island leave at the bottom of the hour (1030, 1130, 1230, etc.) and come back at quarter til the top of the hour (1045, 1145, 1245, etc.). They have seperate hours depending on what time of the year you go. The island... More

Decided to jump on the ferry to Monkey Island on a whim. Turned out to be an interesting place to visit. It is mostly a military fort with a few paths down to the water. The paths are relatively step but well maintained. There is also a beach and a small museum.

This can be tricky to find. But if you find the Yokouska Port Market, you can buy your ticket. The cost is ¥1,300 for adult, ¥650 for elementary students. Unfortunately, the BBQ facilites and resturant were under renovation during my visit. They seem to be getting things finished (Board Deck, rental shop and Oceans Kitchen) by the peak of summer... I enjoyed Sarushima Island, however the day I went it was packed. There were hardly any places to sit on the beach, but overall the trails are nice and sitting on the deck with the ocean breeze hitting you is something to remember.

We went during a US holiday so that there would be fewer people out there. We packed a lunch and hiked around and ate our lunch our there. It was very peacefully. Looking back, we should have done our hiking, then BBQ on the beach there to relax. It is worth the $12 ferry ride out there.
