Chiba Lotte Mariners won their last championship in 2005 but there is still a sense of history and reverence for the successful team, with a monument at the front of the stadium with bronze hand prints of the successful team. It all looks a bit tired and forlorn like their current performance.

went to a game here in July to see the Chiba Marines. We pre-purchased tickets so had very good seats. The atmosphere of the stadium was great and everyone very friendly. Beer kegs carried around through the crowd, so very good fresh beer "on tap". Lots happening and everyone made sure that we were involved. Will definitely go to another... More

We went to a game in July and sat in the outfield seats along with the home team fans. It was a great experience. Although we know no Japanese and didn't know any of the players, we chanted, sand and danced along with the crowd. The other fans treated us great and seemed really happy that we were participating in... More

We go cheer on the Chiba Lotte Marines (the prefectural baseball team of Chiba, just outside of Tokyo in Kaihin Makuhari) a few times a year, usually between June to mid August. Japanese baseball is a real trip -- everybody cheering and chanting in unison. It's very cool. And if you go during a "beer stadium," when the seating is... More

This was a great place to watch a baseball game. Japanese baseball is a unique experience replete with the ability to eat sushi instead of hot dogs and peanuts during the course of the game. And Japanese fans are much different from those in the US. For one thing, they are far more polite. And the vitriol for umpires and... More

I had a fifteen hours layover at Narita last year. Rather than spend it all at the airport, I took a bus into town (got off at a hotel two blocks from the station), purchased same-day tickets, and then bused back to the airport. It's about 40 minutes in each direction, but well worth the trip! The experience of a... More
