It is close to Otaru central district. Around 10min drive to there. It is one of the 3 major night view locations in Hokkaido. The mountain top is assessed through cable car. There is squirrel feeding and downhill kart activities there.

It's a short bus ride from Otaru JR Station. Besides the view there's a squirrel enclosure and short tracks. Estimate a 2 to 3 hours tour around the place. You can then take the return bus and walk around the Otaru river area.

It was snowing. The tram car ride up was nice. The view of the city was great. It's actually a ski hill so many local kids were having school outings. There is a restaurant there and a cafeteria. 2 hours with relaxation should be enough unless skiing

The views of Aomori were excellent, the Rodeway was good, but the chipmunk enclosure was the best! Facilities look a little rundown, but I could see its potential come winter!

The trip up via the gondola was exciting for a first timer, but sadly, the mist clouded out the view that many would consider marvelous. Nonetheless, it was worth it once you're up. It's a tranquil stroll through the greens and the air's really fresh (something that's rare where I lived.)

Tried to drive up in March this year but had no access. Would have liked to see the view of Otaru from up the top where there is access road, much like Mt Isana in Nagasaki but the road was closed. So was the rope lift because of bad weather.

Take the bus (220 yen) from the bus terminal outside JR Otaru station heading to Mt. Tengu (天狗山). You will need to take the gondola to the mountain top (~1200 yen for a return trip). Perhaps I have seen the Hakodate night view before hence this time I don't really feel too much of a spectacular view. However during winter... More

Mt. Tengu can be easily accessed by bus (¥220 one way), followed by ropeway (¥1140). You can also get seasonal ticket if you make multiple use of the ropeway, eg. people who ski at the mountain. It's interesting to see the whole city being lit up after night fall. Do go up to the mountain before it gets dark and... More

HIGHTLIGHT OF MT. TENGU IS THE CHIPMUNKS PARK!!!! You can buy treats at the entrance of the park to feed the chipmunks, hold the treats on your hand and the chipmunks will climb onto your hands. For those going to Otaru, set this as your day trip. buy a bento box and enjoy your lunch at the top of Otaru... More
