Hachimanzaka is similar to Fisherman's wharf in San Francisco, but more prettier. It is located at the foot of Mt Hakodate, in the old town. You can look down onto the bay area filled with squid fishing boats and restaurants serving fresh sea food, not to mention the famous hamburger shop Lucky Pierrot, only in Hakodate . Wandering around he... More

The slope, while a great pain to walk in winter, provides an excellent view to the city. Just need to be there early if you want to catch the sunset here!

雪がうっすらと積もった八幡坂はなんとも言えない景色です。是非恋人とこの季節に一度訪れてみてはいかがでしょうか? The view of Hachiman-zaka, Hakodate. I took this in Dec 28. Snow covered the ground. It was very beautiful. Hachiman-zaka is a popular sightseeing spot in Hakodate, especially in summer, but in winter is also good. Comme see it.

This whole area is very pleasant to explore with beautiful buildings and views to take in. Hachimanzaka offers great views over the harbour area. There are also many churches and shrines to keep you occupied.

Not many cars around so it was great for strolling while enjoying the view.Good walking shoes are recommended since the road is a slope.

I love the view. I went there to view the sight and agree that it is beautiful. But that's about it. If you appreciate the view you will like it else it is not for you.
