If the UNESCO title of this park is any indication of it's magnificence, you will be well please to know it is a lovely park , indeed, But as in all things nature, it's take a nature lover to enjoy nature. Why so ? cause, in nature, it's the "every day" things that are beautiful - clouds, trees, insects, acorns,... More

This natural place is wonderful to see. And you must take cruise. It gives unforgettable image. During two days we were there. In the morning is thick cloud that affects the five lake and others. With sunshine in the afternoon, it is very nice. Fully recommend!

I took the 1.5 hr Cruise by Aurora Boat from Utoro Ferry Terminal. There is another 3 hr version that goes all the way the tip of Shiretoko. 3hr is too long for me and I think the view is about the same. This is a must if you visit Shiretoko. The view was amazing. 200m tall cliff almost all... More

We experienced Shiretoko National Park via boat, opting for the 4-hour cruise up the peninsula. The scenery was incredible -- great rock formations and waterfalls and caves . . . but I think the 1.5-hour cruise would have been sufficient. This is a perfect spot to really get away from it all, especially after spending a week doing business in... More

This is a well-managed, beautiful attraction that you can't miss in Shiretoko. We joined the local tour for a walk around the 5 lakes. Onlt a few English-speaking tour guides so make sure you book in advance. The staff at the conversation centre helped us to book one day beforehand. We were the first team of the day, the guide... Superb scenery and great seafood. I went the end of season, mid October, still nice and almost warm, perfect for trekking. Many famous vacation spots in Japan get over crowded when you go in high season, so I recommend if you can go in the autumn to hokkaido. October is the best food season as well for fish and vegetables... More

As far as I remember, it was a long drive from Sapporo and luckily we took a local tour, (though it's in Japanese which I don't understand at all) but the tour guide can speak fluent english. The journey there was pleasant, tranquil, with beautiful scenery at every angle from the bus. Recommended to every now and then stop-by at... More

Was skeptical about the long drive to a "hot spring" waterfall but went ahead. The drive on the about 20km unpaved road was peaceful and enjoyable. Spotted many deers and the occasional fox. At the end of a 40 min drive was a car park with mobile public toilets and the waterfall. The water was very clear and its very... More

I drove to shiretoko national park after taking the Aurora cruise. The weather was sunny and clear that particular day so we took the opportunity to take the 3-hour guided walk with a guide as it was the bear-active season and the only way to see and walk the 5 lakes was to take the guided walk. paid 5000 yen... I drove nearly 2 hours to Shiretoko Peninsula from the nearest airport in eastern Hokkaido. It was another world inside the national park in Shiretoko with all wilderness. The weather could be totally difference at the west side and east side of the peninsula at the same time. It could be over 20 degrees Celsius at the west side in... More
