Last September, I went to Japan to visit my boyfriend. We went to places such as Kyoto, Hiroshima and many more. From all of the places that I we visited, I was really amazed with Hokkaido. We took flight from Haneda to Memanbetsu and took the bus to Shari. Once I arrived there, i was feeling so exciting. All I... More

This UNESCO heritage site requires you to take either an hour trip (almost every 1-1.5 hours starting from 9am) or a 2 hour trip (2pm) or 3 hours trip (10am) to appreciate its beauty, especially the waterfalls and cliffs. You will see plenty of foxes and deer along the road. If wild bear is sighted, certain attractions will be closed.... More

Shiretoko offers good opportunities for sightseing. The village is quite small and can be reached either by car or bus: shari bus. We have taken the latter and spent almost two full days there, visiting the park and doing a boat tour. We would have liked going fishing but had no time to arrange for it. Food was very nice,... During a Princess scenic cruise to the Shiretoko Peninsular, I saw a pod of orca on the ocean side of the boat. It was amazing to see these wild creatures about 300 metres away from the ship - but they seemed to be on a mission. The male with the largest dorsal fin was out in front whilst the females... More

I have photographed the Steller's Sea-Eagles of the peninsula for a few years now. This has to be one of the best birding experiences on the planet and is highly recommended for nay nature lover and photographer alike. The view from the ocean back to the Rausu harbor is beautiful.

The place to visit if you enjoy nature and wild life. We have to engage a guide to walk through the park given its 'bear aware season'. Unfortunately, we didn't see any brown bears. We didn't see any brown bear during our cruise too (raining day). I would certainly engage the guide even if it's not required as you will... More

totally in love with the natural wild life that are well preserved in shiretoko national park. A combination of cliff, snow mountain, lakes, hot springs, insects, birds, deers, bears, flowers and trees... my favorite place in hokkaido, even though it takes me 6 hours travel by train from sapporo, still worth going, highly recommended.

If the UNESCO title of this park is any indication of it's magnificence, you will be well please to know it is a lovely park , indeed, But as in all things nature, it's take a nature lover to enjoy nature. Why so ? cause, in nature, it's the "every day" things that are beautiful - clouds, trees, insects, acorns,... More

This natural place is wonderful to see. And you must take cruise. It gives unforgettable image. During two days we were there. In the morning is thick cloud that affects the five lake and others. With sunshine in the afternoon, it is very nice. Fully recommend!

I took the 1.5 hr Cruise by Aurora Boat from Utoro Ferry Terminal. There is another 3 hr version that goes all the way the tip of Shiretoko. 3hr is too long for me and I think the view is about the same. This is a must if you visit Shiretoko. The view was amazing. 200m tall cliff almost all... More
