The view of the lake is great for not only driving by the lake but also walking along the lake. Don't miss a sun sinking under the lake. It's amazing color. It's one of the most beautiful moments.

You can take a boat trip on the lake (enjoyable), or simply stand on the shore and look at it, but there's really nothing much to see. The entire shore is in an urban area, so nature enthusiasts are going to be disappointed, and there isn't much in the way of natural beauty there either.

The sunset at Shinjiko Lake, also called Lake Shinji, is spectacular. The day I went it was a little foggy but that didn't hinder the beauty of the sunset at all. The island Yomegashima can be seen from the shoreline of the lake.

Probably best known for its sunsets, though of course this depends on the weather. I enjoy the spooky view of the mountains in the distance even more, though other people enjoy the morning view of the shijimi clam fishers. Make sure to try out shijimi clam miso soup.
