This is one of the landmarks in and around the Bikan historical quarter. There is a walkway between shops that leads to Ivy Square lined with cherry trees in full bloom in late March early April. It is a very pleasant walk but when you get to the square it looks like most of the ivy is dead or dormant.... More

The square was so inviting even though the square wasn't green yet. The weather was not suitable for sitting outside and I was so sorry it was like that because the place was meant for relaxation.

There's a beer garden in the courtyard during the summer, which is definitely a hit. Other times of the year it's a little slow, but still worth seeing.

Not sure what I expected here, but not really a must see. However the museums nearby certainly are, particularly if you've bought the multiple museum / gallery ticket.

Nice place to visit walking around in the streets of Kurashiki. A number nice shops here as well as opportunities to eat as well. However, only if time allows.

It is nice place to walk around. There are many galleries, a temple on the hill, and small market. I figured it out later there is "Candy Museum" Candy is the famous comic books in 1970s-1980s in Asia. I regretted that I could not visit there!! Anyway, discovering small allies and galleries are good pleasure in this area.

Ivy Square is located in the heart of the Kurashiki Bikan area. It has quite a English charm to it and the greenery surrounding the area makes it a comfortable stroll. You can find free orchestra performance and a small museum in it. I went on a rainy day and it gave the place an even more romantic feel.

Not much to visit normally, but for the summer beer garden and spring and autmn festivals, there are a lot of cool events (free jazz concerts etc) going on!

The Ivy Square is nestled in a nice historic setting. The square itself is a remodel of an old textile factory that used to be the center of the city. The exterior of the building is covered with ivy in the summer and in the spring is surrounded by blossoming cherry trees. The winter can be a bit dreary unless... More
