Great example of early twentieth century concrete bridge building. Third bridge built in this site and concrete was an interesting choice of construction material given the large role earthquakes have played in defining the rivers course.

What a beautiful bridge over the river...and so lovely to see it from a boat going up the river...it was lovely autumn day, crisp and clear...

A bridge, so what? The largest river in Japan, so what? I did not get the historical background, maybe I miss something?

It's a sign of the Niigata city, but I can't understand why... It has a history, of course. But this place will be interesting for you only if you are really interested in Niigata history and it means something for you. Not attractive at all.

The bridge itself looks quite ordinary if you don't know the history behind it. Though on the riverside there is a nice place to sit down on the grace and enjoy the view. Would recommend for those who love reading or simply chilling under the sun!

Beautiful and clean river, not too busy traffic (minimal noise), and nice weather makes a perfect spot for evening strolls.

A symbol of Niigata City, the stone architecture and form of the bridge make it a great object for photos. The river banks on either side are nice for a stroll or to get some sun for a few minutes.

The bridge is famous and iconic, the river banks are lovely. Not a place to spend the whole day, but certainly a sight to see in Niigata city.

The bridge itself is nice although not really spectacular. The river banks near the bridge have long lines of cherry trees that blossom in the mid to late April.
