I spent hours at D.T, Suzuki Museum. It is a beautiful, peaceful and inspiring space. My favourite place in Kanazawa!

the architecture of the building and "pool" is nice and you can see about 90% from the outside (walk around the corner, just behind the entrance. The museum itself didn't show much, a few calligraphed "flags" and two pictures, that's about it. If you are not a zen fanatic, probably you'll see enough from the outside.

We loved the building, the exterior landscaping including an exquisite placid pool, lending to the serenity that made our visit very worthwhile. So lovely.

Unfortunately I can't see how this museum has rated so well. It was clean and simple but not an outstanding experience. I suspect clean and simple was the point but I guess I was expecting more content

The idea of building a museum to honor a man who did much to introduce Zen Buddhism to the West seems almost oxymoronic--and yet this spare, simple, elegant museum works. Whether you're a longtime reader of Suzuki's work or a complete novice, do yourself a favor and take the time to visit. You won't be disappointed.

There's not really much on exhibit but the museum and grounds themselves are peacefully zen...great for relaxing and absorbing the tranquility of the environment.

For some reason the D.T. Suzuki museum does not feature heavily in lists of recommended tourist sights for Kanazawa. Perhaps because it is very new. It should be on your list because it is a wonderful experience. With just a few moments thought, this place will touch your senses with its tranquility and beauty. There is not a large collection... A marvellous architectural space, and a perfect manifestation of my idea of Zen. If you need a moment of quiet, meditation &/or reflection, this is the place to be.
