This was my favorite part of my trip to Takayama. We reserved the half-day tour in the morning, and it ended up being just me, my sister, and our guide, Tatsu. The tour took us on a leisurely cycle through the quaint little town of Furukawa -- past the canals and sake breweries -- and the beautiful farmlands and countryside,... More

It's a great experience to cycle and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Furukawa. Hiro the guide speak fluent english and give us very clear explaination of the place. The scenery was amazing and beautiful. We had a great time during the 3.5hr and we get to drink the refreshing spring water. This is a highlight of our vacation. We would... More

Highly recommend the bike tour arranged by the satoyama. We did the bike and hike for around 5 hours leaded by a lovely guide Hiro. What a great time we had through out the 5 hours ! Cos we were in a group of 7, we were arranged as a private tour that day. Some of us could speak Japanes... More

This was amazingly beautiful, Informative and fun, even in slightly drizzly weather. Loved our guide and the route. A teensy bit pricey ($50 a person for 2 hours) but so worth it. A highlight of our vacation.

My husband and I did the full day tour which included cycling and a short walk. Our guide Hisa, spoke excellent english and was wonderfully enthusiastic and answered all our questions - of which there were many. We stopped to speak to a local farmer and learnt how the rice fields are flooded and irrigated, Hisa pointed out herbs and... More

Enjoyable journey through a delightful smaller town and outskirts. Could have had a bit more info on the farming processes and land ownership regime. Good insight into 'rural' Japan which is hard to find on the tourist routes.

We spent a half day cycling with Hiru, our very knowledgable and friendly guide. We had stored up all our questions from our time travelling Japan, and he patiently answered them all! It was a very pleasant way to explore rural Japan, a beautiful village and surroundings. In terms of logistics, easy to reach by rail from Takayama, and clear... More

This is one of the most beautiful sceneries that I have seen in Japan! One of the things that caught my attention was the beauty of the rivers, the water was translucent and you could not see much pollution, contrasting with what I am used to observe in Nagoya. Not to mention the captivating mountains that surround the town. If... More

Thank you for your long and detailed review. I remember you really got impressed with a river. Local kids also are so frank that they always say hello to us in English as you saw. The experience you had here is surely different from what you had in Nagoya and I hope this will be a great memory when you... More

This tour absolutely exceeded my expectations. The staff of Satoyama was super kind and flexible, moving my reservation with no hassle when a train delay caused me to miss my original reservation. On the tour itself, our guide was a friendly and knowledgeable local who spoke great English. The highlight of the tour, however, were our amazing experiences with the... More
