This is a pricey half day excursion, but the eye level panorama of the snow covered alps you receive when you first walk out onto the viewing deck is spectacular...and worth every cent. Make sure you pick a morning with good visibility, otherwise you will be dissappointed, because the cable car trip alone is not worth the expense.

It was fun riding a gondola like vehicle up to the top of the mountains and being able to see all the beautiful greens below!! I recommend this if you are the type to just enjoy the beautiful nature around us!

The ropeway's purpose is soley for the view. It is not too much an enjoyable tourist experience, and I would say do not bother going up on a bad weather day.

Catch some gorgeous views while you ride in a fun cable car to the top of the mountain. Once to the top you can catch some wider views on the scenic deck and get your photo taken with the local giant snowman. The best part about freezing your butts off on the outside deck is that you get to come... More

First purchase your ticket on the second floor, we chose both ropeways (Shinhotakaonsen to Nishihotakaguchi). An adult roundtrip fare is ¥2900. Show your ticket to board the 4-minute gondola. You exit Nabedairakogen Station and head to the second floor to board (Japan's only) double-decker gondolas to Nishihotakaguchi Station after a 7-minute ride. The observation deck is on the roof. A... More

You can enjoy different colors of foliage depending on the season of the year. If you are willing to walk around, get off the gondola at the intermediate stop, walk through the Nakao-kogen. You can enjoy nice nature of trees and leaves with sounds of birds.

The Ropeway is a cable car ride up the mountain. You do have to walk up steps to get to the cable car station. I have bad knees and so I walked up the stairs slowly. The cable car is a double decker, but there is not enough seats for everyone to sit down. Some Japanese people noticed my difficulty... More

I'm not a Ropeway person so when I arrived at Shin-Hotaka I was shocked to see the expensive admission prices. However after taking the Ropeway I can now see why people like cable cars. This cable car went extremely high and dropped us off at the top of a mountain which was surrounded by several other mountains. There was still... More

The highlight of this attraction in my opinion is not the ride on ropeway 1 or 2 but the scenery at the top of ropeway 2. Many people are packed into each cable car to get everyone to the top and most people need to stand up. We saw a fantastic school band perform on a Saturday at the top... More
