We did two tours with Hoi An Free Tours – The evening food tour around Hoi An and the morning cycle ride to Kim Bong Carpentry Village, both were excellent and thoroughly enjoyable. The organisation operates by providing profit free tours around Hoi An to give students the opportunity to practice their English with tourists. It’s an excellent ethic and... More

Great day to see another side of Hoi An, money is given to local people and you get hands on experience on weaving (making mats) and making noodles. Our guide, Xuan, was very informative, asking questions and answered all our questions. If you are here, make the effort to get up- aimed at all ages and types of travelers (Im... More

This is an excellent (and cheap!) way to see the countryside of Hoi An, run by friendly and knowledgable university students who want to practice their English. Our guide, Xuan, was brilliant! We learned a lot about Hoi An and Vietnam I hadn't heard elsewhere. His English was fluent and he was great fun to hang out with! At the... More

I heard about this tour through another backpacker who had heard great things about it. The tour is a great way to see another side of Hoi An which wouldn't be possible with out some local guides! Our group was small and our two lovely guides were wonderful. Definitely try and do this tour if you're in Hoi An!

This really is a superb day out. It's well run and great value. Our guide Giang was so nice and informative. We were well looked after by the locals we met making rice paper, bed mats etc and it was great to see the countryside for next to nothing and also help to improve the skills of the students. Try... I went on the free bike tour with the two lovely students Hong and Phuong. We were a small group which was good, the group was very mixed from young to older travellers and we all got along well. We biked through Hoi An to get the ferry by the river to go over to the island. Our two guides... More

This was the best tour so far. Our guide was very knowledgable and the people were very friendly. No hidden costs. Cost us 50,000 dong per person which covered ferry and all donations. Very gentle ride no pressure to buy anything. Would recommend taking lots of water. Highly recommend

We are so happy with the day we spent with Xuan on Kim Bong Island! What an amazing free service they offer to foreigners who want to see local culture and scenery. The tour is free with just a small fee (50,000 Vietnamese Dong which is 2.5 USD) for the ferry ride to the island (20,000) and to support the... More

This was the highlight of our time in Hoi An, and also a highlight of our whole time in Vietnam! Xuan and Thanh were our tour guides. Really great English, and fun to be around too. We visited a boat yard, tried our hand at straw mat making, and also made rice paper. Xuan and Thanh were very friendly and... More
