Type: Walking tours, Food & Drink
Owner description: The food lovers' guide to Hoi An. Our tour is in two parts: firstly we take guests on a walking tour of the markets and streets meeting the local producers and vendors; we then invite guests back to our private air-conditioned dining room in the Ancient Town to taste carefully chosen examples of this food bought directly from the producers - most of whom we see or meet on the tour. The idea behind our tour is simple:in Hoi An there are around 120 restaurants catering to visitors with another 400 or so vendors and eating establishments catering to locals with foods that don't usually appear on visitor menus. This is the food of the local Hoi An people - some call it street food - many with recipes passed down from generation to generation. Our tour gives visitors a safe opportunity to try these foods - we ensure the food is handled hygienically and provide a comfortable venue for the tastings.

My family were lucky enough to have a tour today as Neville has just returned from Aus.He was great with my two 14 year olds.Eating ice cream at 0830 is very special as was my beer at 0930.I completely agree with the statements of doing tour early in trip and eating lightly the night prior. You would be hard pressed to... Yes it is hard to find, even with a local tour guide I befriended, who I brought along with his family but well worth the trouble! Rose went out of her way to make us feel comfortable, in what seemed to me like being welcomed & dining in her home! her signature dish, stuffed squid was magnificent although all dishes... More

Nevile and his team give you a full on 4 hour food experience . You get to try over 40 differnt foods . Starting in the markers then visiting various street stalks and resteraunt s Serves are generous . My advice skip dinner night before . Nevile is so passionate and he and his wife Colleen make this a win... More

This tour is by far the most exciting and informative aspect of our trip to Vietnam. Neville is incredibly engaging and knowledgable about the Vietnamese food. He has such a strong passion for the locals and their culture. We couldn't believe we were about to taste 42 different Vietnamese dishes, all before lunch time! The tour guides during the walking... Just finished this tour an hour or so ago, and am hard-pressed to fault it. Well-organised, seamless walk through Hoi An with food just magically appearing wherever we went. Personable local guide with fine English took us through the streets and market, before we stopped at the Family Restaurant for a few hours with Neville, a highly intelligent and knowledgeable... My sister and I and my 10 year old did this tour on the first day of our week-long stay in Hoi An. Great choice. Neville is engaging and entertaining, knowledgeable and respectful of the Vietnamese people and their culture. We tried all sorts of foods that we wouldn't have had a hope of finding, let alone trying. He was... More

Having a 9 and 6 year old in tow I was a little worried it may not be the ideal tour for them.....how wrong I was!!! Neville does a great job at keeping them entertained and engaged, most importantly learning about and keen to try the abundance of food on offer. Both children are very proud of their "food Ledgends"... More

This tour was highly recommended by fellow Australians staying at our Hotel in Da Nang and it didn’t disappoint. Excellent commentary and knowledge, food and a brief but in depth glimpse into local cuisine and traditions for us who only had 4 days in the area. The operators Neville, Colleen and Sen along with their regular locals you will meet... More

We had already tried food from a few local street venders but without Neville's amazing tour there are SO MANY foods that you would never find yourself. Neville is a great character and obviously loves the Vietnamese culture and cuisine with a passion. This combination makes for a great tour and a 100% full stomach. Highly reccommend!

Take the advice and DO NOT EAT before this tour. Even just having a mouthful of each of the dishes and I was stuffed by the end. The walk through the market answers so many questions about what the different fruits and veg we had been seeing plus provides tasty insights to street food but things get serious at the... More
