Really enjoyed visiting this workshop and learning the story of the people who work here. Reasonably priced gifts to buy.

This is an activity well worth your time and it leaves you feeling you have contributed to a wonderful cause. We booked in to the painting and lantern making course the day before. On the day we met at the foundation which is on the outskirts of the old town. We were taken for a short ferry journey to the... More

Booking in for the lantern class and the painting class it took up a morning which was great as it was so hot outside. I particularly enjoyed the painting class as we were taken through the town from the shop onto a boat and then 5 minutes later arrived at the lighthouse for an art class. Professional, well organised but... More

The Lifestart foundation provides a place for disadvantaged locals to perfect their handicrafts and sell them. We booked for a lantern making class where we come away with a lovely small lantern each (which we somehow managed to get home via 2 flights). The class was not expensive by Australian standards ($15 each) and provided us with a better insight... More

My sister and I enjoyed the afternoon class of lantern making and painting. It was a highlight of our visit to Hoi An, the teachers where attentive, teaching us the techniques required to create our mini lantern and painting. They also have a gift shop where the process of the sales go to the person who made them- this is... More

A very worthwhile way to spend a part of your day. My boyfriend and I did the painting and Lantern making workshop with Life Start this morning (8/6/14). It was really great, just the two of us in the class and the instructors were both very patient and helpful. It's amazing to meet the ladies working in the shop too,... More

My boyfriend and I did the painting class and the lattern making class. We were the only two in the classes so we had the teachers full attention. In the painting class we painted with black ink. The artist taught us techniques which we followed. We had plently of practice with the artist, who was very patient. We followed the... More

I missed the painting class, but was able to join in lantern making class. There were 3 of us taking this class so it was very intimate and fun. The woman running the class was warm and patient. My boyfriend and I did the lantern making and painting classes and thoroughly enjoyed both. We were the only two in our classes so got extra personalised teaching, though is still probably worth booking as they said it sometimes gets quite busy. Phong, who showed us how to make the lanterns was lovely and as well as teaching us, told... More
