Stumbling upon the wonderful Lifestart workshop on our last day in Hoi An was one of the highlights of our first visit to the town! Our only regret was not finding it sooner! Founded in 2000 by Australian, Karen Leonard, and supported by a dedicated group of volunteers and supporters from around the world, Lifestart is a grass-roots, not for... More

My friend and I took the lantern making class which was enjoyable and educational. The best part was that the money goes towards vietnamese people who are disabled and need help to sustain life. The store is full of crafts made by those people which are absolutely adorable and of good quality. After the lantern making class we were able... More

Had a super afternoon at Lifestart today. Learnt how to paint, Vietnamese style with Sinh and also made a traditional lantern. Wasn't sure what to expect and thought this was more for our daughters, 13 and 11 years but that wasn't the case. We lived it! Not only were our teachers great but we learnt about what wonderful work this... More

A beautiful shop with friendly staff, determined to help those in need. The shop is full of many unique gifts made by disable local people. Worth a stop to buy something to take home that is different to what you see on the street and in the markets.

Beautiful, unique gifts and a wonderful way to support the community. Wish I had stumbled across this store earlier in my trip as the classes sound fantastic.

We did the half hour free language class. You have to book a day ahead of time. It was a good linguistic and cultural overview. We learned helpful phrases for greetings, thank you, and shopping. These go a long way in the marketplace! We wish we did it at the beginning of our time in Hoi An, rather than the... More

This is s great shop in Hoi An that has great products to buy where the proceeds go back to the people who make them, who are mainly disabled. Great things for all ages. They also hold painting, lantern making and basic Vietnamese classes. Worth a visit!

This was a fantastic workshop. The instructor spoke very good English and the directions were clear. The lanterns turned out very well! Meeting the women in the shop was brilliant - we met the women who made the items we bought. This is a really good initiative and helps a lot of local Hoi An people with disabilities.
