We were staying at a hotel along China beach and the tour desk at our hotel didn't know about this place. I found out about Tra Que through Tripadvisor and all the reviews sounded so good I had to go find it. Unfortunately I didn't look for it early enough and I couldn't do a cooking course or a farming... More

We caught a cab from the old town for $3-4 and enjoyed a cool drink at the water wheel and then worked out a price to do a mini farming experience. We donned our farming shirts and hats and had a tour with Hien? through the gardens to the river. We also enjoyed the basil seed and ginger drink and... More

Fascinating to see the villagers growing organic herbs and vegetables with only river weed as fertiliser & ladies with two enormous watering cans as the only irrigation. Beautifully laid out parterre style gardens. Recently opened Waterwheel cooking school/restaurant served a very refreshing drink made with basil seeds and ginger - quite delicious.

Short distance from downtown hoi an ...a peaceful little enclave where they grow their own veggies and herbs....A family business that uses algae for fertilizer....delightful lunch overlooking the fields...VERY interesting discussion with owner about the history of the area...Great experience with the herbal foot bath and massage...in spite of language barrier, managed to share a few laughs with the ladies...Don't... We visited here on an organised trip with our guide and loved every minute of the experience. Learning from one of the young guys who worked there about how the CoOp works and what it means to them. Then making our own snacks followed by a glorious foot message from 2 of the cheekiest ladies we ever met. We are... More

Liked the old world charm and admired the hard work the women and men perform. Also visit a lovely old man who has a small sit-down place on the cnr of the bridge and the market track, not the official one but the one before. He will offer you a cold drink and a seat, very welcome on a warm... More

Walked 4km to Tra Que Herb Village from Hoi An Old town, cursed myself on the way under the hot day sun (only mad tourists venture out in mid-day sun) but got a surprise getting there. The farmers were hard-working and friendly, eager to explain the herbs and farming method to us. A surprising good restaurant called Water Wheel provided... More

Opportunity to meet the people and actually water the gardens sets this apart. There was no shade so take water.
