Of course Registan square is one of the main attractions of samarkand and you HAVE to see it. Huge walls decorated with spectaculair tileworks. Nice domes in smashing bleu-turquoise colours. Its so impressive that you do not realy mind the huge amount of souvernirshops that are there aswell. Go and have a look at the exhibition of black and white... More

There are so many beautiful attractions in Samarkand and this is definitely one of the best. There is something ethereal and out of this world beauty of this place - no words can explain what I felt sitting in one of the benches, just looking at the beautiful mosaic designs of the buildings in the square. The rope hindering the... More

We enjoyed our visit as the place is gorgeous. We negotiated with a guard to get into the minaret. The stairs are quite claustrophic, so don't all go at once if you are a large group. The gold mosque is amazing too. Lots of great photo opportunities for a shutterbug. More

Registan Square is definitely a must see in Samarkand. It is grand and stunningly beautiful, inside and outside. I find that most of the mosques, madrassah and mausoleums in Samarkand are exquisitely beautiful, more beautiful than those found in more popular spots such as Turkey or Morocco. I highly recommend Uzbek as a holiday destination especially Samarkand. More

You need a lot of time to soak up each of the madrassas and their unique characters so go more than once if you can. More

I can't say enough about Samarkand writ large and Registan in particular. Please visit Uzbekistan (but give money to private, non-government vendors as much as possible)! Samarkand is such a jewel of a preserved archaeological site that it seems to glimmer as it must have seven centuries ago. Registan is well worth the price of admission and haggling with the... More

Registan was built as a shelter for the travellers on the Silk Route. Its a very imposing structure of 3 buildings and the square is a big photo opportunity. Looks very Arabic in architecture ... and the Blue colour used is the Russian influence when restoric these buildings. Here too the avaerage rate for a photograph clicked by the professionals... Registan is w beautiful complex but it became so touristic, packed with handicfat shops and sellers (they are the part of Registan ). Old photos that you can find in a museum part show how it looked like ina a past and it seemed fantastic. I couldn't feel the spirit of this place. Registan used to be ful of life,... More
