Loved this little basilica.... The interior is a mixture of old typical South American Catholic statues and the most amazing mobiles...birds, butterflies and creatures hanging from the ceiling... So unusual...

The church itself is fairly typical but interesting although not elaborate. The art work that hangs from the ceiling adds a certain difference to the church and is worth a visit.

I would have enjoyed having someone there to read the information on the saints. Really would like to know why one was carrying a skull. The statues inside were interesting. Also enjoyed the construction of the building

Enjoy stepping into the cool of the church. It is very old and unadorned. There is little to see but it is worth a visit. Be sure to see the confessional at the back of the church as it is unusual.

Just a lovely spot to get away from crowds and meditate. Very simple structure. Fascinating array of brickwork where it had been rebuilt over the centuries.

Nice place to stay for a while but 10 minutes is more that needed. Sometimes there are concerts but notching special (local choirs).

This is a nice church to visit, simple, peaceful, cool on a hot day. But a very quick visit as its essentially white with very few ornaments.

The oldest church in Uruguay is typically Portuguese in style. With just one nave and white washed walls. The façade is topped with a couple of tiled domes. Beside it lie the foundations of what was to become the Governors House. The church is one of the few attractions in Colonia, it is an incredibly peaceful place.
